Newspaper Article: Sikhs want Guru’s animated video taken off YouTube.

Ludhiana, July 29(Money Deol) - Members of the Sikh community have strongly condemned an animated video of Guru Nanak Dev on YouTube and demanded its immediate withdrawal along with an apology from its producers.Followers of the religion and many others have termed the video as derogatory and hurting the religious sentiments of the Sikhs. A brainchild of film and television studio Rajshri Productions, the video is online under the Rajshri Kids Channel banner. The channel mentions on YouTube: Guru Nanak was a man of God who loved people and taught them the path of true faith and worship. Millions follow his teachings in their lives. This animated video will help children imbibe the sublime values that the great Guru taught.SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said that the film had hurt the religious sentiments of the community. “Nobody has the right to portray the Sikh Guru non-seriously and hence they should withdraw the film immediately,” he said, adding that they would initiate legal action against Rajshri Productions. “We will constitute a committee to look into the matter and submit its report. The company will be asked to seek forgiveness from the SGPC,” Makkar said.The video has also created a global furore and a widespread condemnation campaign has kicked off on various social networking websites, including Facebook and Twitter.

Its good bt i recomment that there shuld be no animated videos on Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji or any other Guru Ji . .coz even in religious films there is not any person who cnt play character of That Mighty Guru Sahib Ji(s) coz there is nobody i...s borned like Guru Ji n no body will born. . . .

Jaskirat Singh Batra I agree with Narinder and Rajvir because our gurus are not shown by a face even in films. It is just their spiritual presence which can be marked by Guru's light, there has to be no physical body to represent them

Kashmir Singh i don't agree with people who are bowing to fake pictures at home or wherever. In India they have these small glass globes that have a small statue of Guru Nanak inside of them and they put them on their dashboard. I think they are made in China, cuz they represent Guru Nanak like a Tibetan... peeps there put that on their dash and will bow to it before driving and stuff.

another Saint Soldier : May peace be with you all and much love, especially to the tyrants and oppressors of this Earth, who now have more power than ever before.  I see that you are really trying to prevent the ideals of Sikhi from spreading to the youth because of obvious reasons, but you cannot stop God's will.  If we were truely interested in preventing the disrespect to the Gurus' than we would address the miseducation of Sikhi in English literature.  I wish you all blessings and much love.  I wish renewed inspiration to all true Sikhs to continue to (or strive towards) work hard at the work our true Guru (our conscious) tells us to do, to keep martial training, and to live pure.  may peace be with you.
