Residents of Southwest Virginia have a long history with fossil fuels like coal and gas, and the industries built to help the rest of the country meet its energy needs. Recently, we have also seen communities and individuals in the region working in creative ways to address the climate change and environmental challenges brought on by pollution from these fuels.

Please join us for a day of hearing from some of those groups and individuals, learning about our changing climate, and figuring out how we can continue to fight for a Southwest Virginia - and a whole Commonwealth - where our people, resources and land are fully valued.

Agenda will include:

  • Our Changing Climate
  • Benefits of Clean Energy for Virginia
  • The Clean Power Plan
  • Panel Discussion: Local Action to Protect Our Climate
  • Building Teams to Organize & Advocate
  • Getting Your Message Across

Lunch and dinner will be provided, as well as snacks and refreshments throughout the day. Mileage reimbursement to help cover participant transportation expenses is available.

Don’t miss this opportunity to meet other people working for what you believe in, and learn how to become a powerful advocate for a resilient and sustainable Southwest!
