Education for the 4th Industrial Revolution

with Sid Verma

When you find something that moves you, you will find the ways and means to solve that problem. The jobs of the future are not going to be about how much you know, it’s about “how are you going to use the knowledge you have, to have an impact on society?”

Sid Verma is an entrepreneur and founder of a new organisation called BrainSTEM: a STEM collaboration platform connecting high school students with universities and industry around Australia. Sid has a positive outlook on the future of work as we embrace the “4th industrial revolution”. He sees a future where employers will no longer hire for HANDS or HEAD; instead they’ll hire for HEART.

Listen to the 1/2hr podcast below, or the full conversation here including more of Sid's entrepreneurial journey. 10min highlights on YouTube.

Here's a few lessons from the short films Sid chose...

The Fourth Industrial Revolution

  • The 4th Industrial Revolution is the coming together of physical, digital and biological systems
  • This will change work as we know it, but it's not all bad. The positives are to be found in the places where humans work in conjunction with machines

Dotty

  • Technology can't solve all problems
  • Sometimes the smallest things we get wrong in tech can be the biggest barrier to people

Blood from the Sky

  • Solving real-world problems provides the best educational opportunities
  • Real-world problems led from the heart will provide the best opportunities for employment in the future
