ACE Club (Edgerton): ACE club stands for Airline Career Experience. The main focus of the club is to educate students about what life as a commercial pilot is like; as well as the requirements and steps for reaching that goal. We talk about different college options, what majors to consider, and other possible jobs in the aviation industry. We also have exciting field trips, like to the Alaska Airlines 737 full motion simulators and the flight line and hangar at Seattle Tacoma International Airport. Sometimes we have guest speakers come and speak about other ways to get into flying, such as through a service academy or ROTC. We also talk about the current state of airlines (such as the progress of the UAL-COA merger) and modern airliners. Overall, ACE club is a great club to learn about not only flying professionally, but the entire aviation industry. For instance, a few of the members have no interest in getting their commercial pilot's license, but still want to be engineers and private pilots.

AIAA (Weeks): RAHS is dedicated to educating its students at the highest level possible, in all fields, and especially math, science, and engineering. To support this mission, we are happy to introduce the AIAA (the American Institute of Aeronautics
and Astronautics) club at RAHS, dedicated to fulfilling these goals in conjunction with both the school and the AIAA’s local chapter. We will harness the power of the community, connect with local schools and science fairs, and, most importantly, the AIAA organization, dedicated to furthering engineering and all other professions involved in the aeronautics industry. As a club, we will bring in speakers, participate in events, and work on great projects to further our learning, and prepare for futures and engineers. Join us!

AP Japanese Club (Kumakura): Get extra practice and preparation for the AP Japanese test.

Art Credit Club (Savishinsky): The Art (credit) Club offers an opportunity to complete a teacher-supervised art credit in one of three areas:
-Drawing/cartooning
-Digital art/graphic design
-Electronic music composition/production
Small groups will collaborate to develop self-directed learning plans, share and critique student and professional work,
and complete all forms and written work required to receive an art credit. No prior experience is necessary, and all
basic art supplies and technology will be provided.
PLEASE NOTE: Thursday club time alone is NOT sufficient to earn art credit, so additional hours outside school will
be required to earn credit. That’s right, this club includes homework, but it’s totally worth it!

Book Club (Wombold): Most people think of Book Club is all about talking about books, all day, every day. Even I did, going into it. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that is wasn’t that way. Book Club is an amazing way to connect with people who love books, and therefore have a connection with you. But even if you think reading 10 hours a day for the heck of it could
not be defined as infinitely spectacular, Book Club could still be the place for you. You make friends that you wouldn’t
otherwise even meet, and those friends usually last at least through high school. You get to totally relax, put your mind
off all of the crazy homework you have to get done when you get home, and just have ridiculous amounts of fun for a
whole 45 minutes. One word to describe Book Club? Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. So come check us out! You’ll
probably never leave.

Documentary Film Club (Joshi): The world changes faster every day and you are just a few years, or months, away from entering it as young adults. War and peace, economics and equity, science and technology, law and justice. In the documentary film club we will watch, analyze and discuss documentary films on all these topics and ask the difficult questions that you will face and have to answer as you enter the real world.

Film Club (Olsen): Do you love making films? Then this is the club for you! In this club we explore many facets of the film making industry, and take what we've learned to compete in film competitions. Whether you already attend the after school Monday meetings or haven't had the chance to we would love for you to join!

Games & Magic Cards Club (Cook): Do you like Chess, Risk, Catan, or other board games? Maybe you like Magic and other trading card games, or even traditional games like crazy 8s and 13. Games club may be for you. Please bring your favorite game and some friends to play with.

Interact Club (Davolt): It’s the mission of the club to research and select at least two major projects to complete by the end of the school year, and can encourage classmates to get involved in the community service projects planned during off-school hours. The club members will also get involved in various one-time community service events and report back to the club. Many
of the activities we complete can contribute to your community service hours requirement. During club meetings at school, members present and discuss ideas for getting involved and “giving back”. If there are on-campus projects, club time is used. If off-campus events/activities are planned, a sub-committee organizes the events, including transportation if necessary. Members of our sponsoring Rotary Club of Southcenter are impressed with our commitment to service, and by our interest and participation in community events and activities.
Our community service commitments:
--‐ Give of ourselves: Provide personal assistance; select service agencies and volunteer."
--‐ Give time: Conduct campaigns to gather food/clothing for service agencies."
--‐ Give money: Conduct fundraising events and provide money to selected/approved organizations.

Math Club (McComb):Thursday Math Club is an extension of Wednesday Math Club, but open to all students. We will apply the theories of mathematics in hands on activities that range from fun competitions to applying it in the real world. We take the
concept of learning math to a new perspective as we show that everyone can learn it, while being enthusiastic about it. Be RATIONAL and join math club.

Movie Club (Steele): Come and watch movies of your own choosing during Clubs. If you are a movie buff you will enjoy the time relaxing to some of your favorite movies.

National Honor Society (Peterson): If you applied and were accepted into NHS before, and want to get more involved, then this club is a good fit for you. By joining this club, you can participate in any NHS event, and input any ideas you have for events during the meetings! It's a great way to get more involved with school and in the community, and you can get experience running fundraisers or other projects we do. You can also fulfill your community service through active participation in NHS.

Pep Band (Dyer): Calling all musicians!  We are organizing a brand new RAHS Pep Band! Pep band will be an exciting way to have fun playing music while raising school spirit with performances at special events such as assemblies and various school celebrations. All musicians are invited to give it a try. Participants must bring their own instruments to each club day meeting.  Ability to read music preferred.

Philosophy Club (Hoehne): Philosophy Club is designed to provide a forum for students to openly discuss any topic they wish to explore with their peers. No topic is off limits, but must be treated in a respectful and mature manner. Since Philosophy is the study of thought, only thoughtful and thought provoking students should join.

Photography Club (Jones-Gunn & Wilson): The Photography Club will be a way for students interested in photography, whether beginning or advanced, to learn about the medium and increase their photography skills. Learn to shoot in various modes and conditions (manual, low light, athletic events, etc.), discuss and experiment with various terms and techniques (adjusting aperture and shutter speed, fill flash, etc.), and work on photographing people, landscapes, animals, etc. Additionally, we’ll learn about the history of photography and try out a variety of cameras - from the pinhole camera to the iPhone.

Poetry Out Loud (Storer): Poetry Out Loud is a contest that encourages students to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation. This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about their literary heritage. Poetry Out Loud is a pyramid structure competition that starts in the classroom. Winners advance to a school-wide competition, then to a regional and/or state competition, and ultimately to the National Finals

Speech & Debate Club (Shiroma): Are you a part of this club that meets after school already? We need more time to practice, research, and practice some more! Come join us on Thursdays to learn how to speak with confidence and stand with poise while impressing people with your amazing speaking skills!
