NDE Visions of the World's Future
ABOUT THIS STUDY
We are near-death experience (NDE) researchers affiliated with the International Association for Near-Death Studies (IANDS).  We have researched NDEs for nearly 15 years; our research website is https://selfconsciousmind.com. We are seeking participants in a study of "NDE Visions of Scenes from the World's Future."

The objectives of the study are (1) identify and, if possible, verify cases of significant world events that were accurately predicted by near-death experiencers (NDErs);  (2) identify similarities in future world events received by different NDErs; and (3) identify what significance the visions of future world events have for NDErs.

YOU ARE BEING INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS STUDY because you likely meet the criteria for the study, either from a published account of your experience or from your account in the IANDS Experience Registry.  If you submitted your experience to the Experience Registry, you indicated that it is OK for an NDE researcher to contact you.

TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS STUDY YOU MUST MEET THESE TWO CRITERIA:
     1. You had a near-death experience (NDE)---regardless whether you were actually close to death. Such experiences can include, for example, feelings of peace or joy, feeling separated from the body, seeing deceased persons or a brilliant light, or encountering a mystical or spiritual being.  NDE or NDE-like experiences can occur even though one is NOT close to death, such as during sleep, during meditation, or when taking drugs.

     2. During your experience or at some other time, you received information about a future world event, for example, in a vision, a dream, through hearing or simply as a "knowing."  World events are occurrences that involve or impact a large number of people, such as tragic accidents, terrorist attacks, large-scale social disruptions or conflicts, large-scale natural or environmental disasters, and so on.

IF YOU MEET THESE STUDY CRITERIA, please fill out this survey.  We estimate that it will take 30-45 minutes to complete the survey.  You may provide your name, or a pseudonym or leave your name blank.

YOUR PARTICIPATION IS COMPLETELY VOLUNTARY
You are not required to participate even though you may have indicated it is OK for an NDE researcher to contact you. You may withdraw from the study at any time and without giving a reason. If you withdraw from the study before data collection is completed, your data will be destroyed. If you give permission for us to contact you for follow-up information or clarifications, you may decline to respond at that time.

RISKS AND BENEFITS
You may have discomfort in recalling traumatic experiences or disturbing images.  If so, you may decline to answer any question and you may withdraw your participation at any time.  The findings of this study can benefit our understanding of NDEs as well as provide insights into the nature of time and of reality.  Participating in the study may also help you understand your NDE and your visions of future events more deeply.

PUBLICATION OF RESULTS
The information you provide in the survey will be aggregated across all participants. Excerpts of the textual answers you provide may be quoted but will be identified only by pseudonym initials, with all identifying information removed. The data and excerpts may be published in academic articles or books, or presented in lectures which may be videotaped and published on the Internet.

CONFIDENTIALITY
Your responses to this survey will be kept anonymous. We will preserve your confidentiality by (1) identifying your responses using pseudonym initials; (2) removing all identifying information from textual responses; (3) presenting the survey data in aggregate form, not linked to an individual; and (4) storing machine-readable data in password-protected files.
