ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T had four of the top 21 overall finishers Saturday morning to lead it to a fourth place finish at the Jackling Jocks Invitational held at the S&T Golf Course.
The Miners' top runner Saturday was
Kyle Stocker (Solon, Iowa/Cedar Rapids Prairie), who finished ninth overall with a time of 25:30 in the eight-kilometer race.
Aaron Viets (Excelsior Springs, Mo./Lutheran HS) finished 17
th in 25:42, while
Jacob Tayloe (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) was right behind Viets with a time of 25:47. S&T's top five was rounded out by Daniel Deposki in 21
st place in a time of 25:56 and
Justin Brown (Independence, Mo./Truman) in 25
th in 26:02.
Chris Marchman (Sheridan, Ark./Sheridan) finished in 31
st place with a time of 26:26 and
Brett Conway (Troy, Ill./Triad) was 38
th in 26:49.
Southwest Baptist's Phillip Miller won the overall race by a wide margin, posting a winning mark of 24:33 that was 28 seconds better than Missouri Southern's Adrian Todd. MSSU, ranked 10
th in NCAA Division II, had four of the next six finishers behind Miller and five of the top 10 overall to take the team competition over SBU.
The Miners' next competition will be at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships, scheduled for Oct. 20 in Springfield, Mo.
