MYP PP Moderation process – Julie to update what will be happening on May 2 and expectations for PP assessmentReminder that supervisors need to have assessment done preferably by Friday April 27, at least before Wed. May 2. Staff will be put into groups of 3-4 and asked to moderate 3-4 PPs. Groups need to be moderated as well. Julie to prepare by next week.

* Wednesday April 11 Staff Meeting: - Student Led Conference (SLC) updates with staff and Introduction to MYP Moderation process
* Thursday April 12 Lunchtime: Teacher SLC discussion session, Rm 345 1:15pm (New teachers to BISS this year encouraged to attend)
* Friday April 13 Lesson 4 & 5: All Grade 10 students meet in 345 – Preparation for MYP Exhibition
* Friday April 13 Lunchtime: New students to BISS SLC information session, Rm 345 1:15pm – HR teachers encourage students to attend
* Tuesday April 17: Extended HR until 8:45 for all students. MYP task is to finalise SLC program for each student
* Wednesday April 18: All day SLC and Gr 10 PP Exhibition. All MYP students off normal timetable (separate schedule). 3:30-5pm: Gr 10 DP subject selection meeting in Annexe (Replaces SS Staff Meeting)

Grade 9 and differentiation – further discussion and sharing information from Science dept.Science Foundation students 20-33% in each class. What knowledge are they graduating with? Stan provided a doc based on departmental discussions - Broken levels down and aligned with assessment
Current report cards, what do we want these to reflect - do we need to make changes now?
Mathematics - issues with non-math assignments - also need ICS at times
Tracy shared an initiative at her other school - Mainstream and Study preparation program - maths and science
Hank - shared her approach to assessment using an 'average' approach - Julie to talk to her more about this and how it relates to MYP
Question - How do we more effectively scaffold and differentiate students with very low English skills in the classroom? Do they all get the same assignments? Are they all graded with the same rubric?
AMT to decide what to do
Cath - we may need 2 systems - MYP (we cannot change this) and alternative pathway

Language A - English is fine re MYP units but by end of year need to introduce applied linguistics starting at about Gr 8. Korean and Japanese still some work to do on the 3
PE - Too much info in the 3 areas. 10th grade solid, some other grades not complete. Working on getting assessment onto Atlas
Maths - Finished Gr 10, doing some changes - Moving units around to get Monitoring assignments done sem 1. Mark working on Gr 7. Now looking at Gr 9. Gr 8 Tracy and Stan to work on.

Focus on: Semester 1 units Grade 10 – significant concepts, Guiding questions and Areas of Interaction review – follow up from SS staff meeting this week. (See other documents)
Questions –
• What training do staff need on this?
• How best to do this (staff meetings? Department meetings?)
Other documents were emailed to coordinators. These included Atlas analysis of units for Significant concept and A0IDepartments to review Semester 1 units in conjunction with unit planning tools.
