Description

Join our panel discussion on the politics of organizing, gender expression, war, and refugeehood in the context of nail salons.

We will discuss a brief history of nail salons, the gendered expressions of wearing nail polish, the Vietnam War, refugeehood, and community building to center the labor and lives of nail salon workers in a critical context.

Our panelists include:

- Trinh, who once organized for nail salon workers' rights in the Bay Area

- Emily, a Women's Center Intern discussing the brief history of nail salons in the U.S.

- Luis, a fan and consumer of nail polish and nail art
