1 Peter 3:18

Theme: The Holy Spirit and the Resurrection

Easter and the resurrection of Jesus is also the story of the work of the Holy Spirit throughout history. On this Easter morning, we celebrate Easter by remembering who the Holy Spirit is and His work throughout history.

 Discovery Questions

Self-reflection:

Read 1 Peter 3:18 (read the whole chapter, preferably) and Rom 8:11. Prayerfully consider the idea that the Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead now lives in every believer.

With your family:

Ask your children to tell you as much as they can about Easter - both what happened and what it means. Without correcting them, help them fill in the gaps.

With your small group:

  1. Read 1 Peter 3:18 and Rom 8:11 in context.
  2. What stands out to you in these verses? Why?
  3. What bothers you about these verses? Why?
  4. Discuss the self-reflection question above.
  5. What is the significance of the fact that Jesus did nothing amazing in the flesh by His own inherent power, but by the power of the Holy Spirit?
  6. Given this passage, what should you do this week?
