The College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences is recruiting over 30 new academic posts during the coming year.
Mathematics and Computer Science http://emps.exeter.ac.uk/mathematics-computer-science/ within the College includes more than 35 academic and teaching staff and research excellence in a range of areas. The group has strong links with the Met Office (also in Exeter) and has vibrant undergraduate, masters and PhD programmes that consistently recruit excellent students.
This post aims to expand current research activities in fundamental areas of pure, applied mathematics or statistics. The post holder will have an outstanding track record of leadership of mathematics research, including research funding and international quality publications. He/She will be an international figure with the ability to attract world-class academics, researchers and students to his/her research group, and will be willing to contribute to relevant areas of mathematics teaching as appropriate.
Candidates in any area of mathematics and/or statistics will be seriously considered for this post, but we particularly welcome candidates with proven research leadership in pure mathematics who will collaborate with other areas in pure or applied mathematics and/or statistics. Current pure and theoretical applied mathematical research interests at Exeter include algebraic number theory, arithmetic geometry, combinatorics, dynamical systems and control, numerical analysis and fluid mechanics, while applied interests range from climate and weather modelling to systems biology. A suitable candidate will bring research that will expand and strengthen core mathematics at the University.
