Easter Greetings from Anita

Wishing you a very Happy Happy Easter with lots of special moments.

With the dawn of Easter this week, it's a very opportune time to pop into your inbox and say 'Happy Easter' from me to you!

Since my last message in December, I've met even more wonderful young-at-heart people, keen to learn the wonders of going on-line with their computing devices for all sorts of reasons, including Car Tax & Driving Licence renewals, Ancestry, Shopping, Card making and so much more!

The use of iPads and tablets is ever increasing, making it so convenient to communicate with loved ones around the globe from the comfort of an armchair through Apps for Skype, Email, Facebook and Twitter.

As always, the level of enthusiasm from all the lovely people just entering into the world of technology is awesome and it's a huge privilege for me, to be helping so many wonderful and interesting folk embrace the on-line world.

Free Computer Drop-in Sessions in YORK
Spread the word!

Thanks to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, from now until June 2015, FREE drop-in sessions are available in the York area for those wanting to learn to go on-line or for those who want to improve on their basic knowledge.

Take a look at the Poster image for details and DO spread the word to those who you think would benefit from these FREE drop-in sessions. For more clarity, you'll find a larger image at the end of this Newsletter.

Using your portable technology to create some EGG-cellent memories for someone alone this Easter

SKYPE
If you're visiting someone who lives alone and who may not have any technology, take your laptop, iPad, tablet or smart phone and give them the opportunity of a Skype session with their friend or relative, from near or far. It could be a happy Easter moment and it could become a cherished memory. It's great to talk and there's no cost if you're using a WiFi connection.

YOUTUBE
If you're visiting someone with a failing memory, play their favourite songs on YouTube and maybe some

of your own too! Again, there's no cost if you're using a WiFi connection. It's great fun and everyone will enjoy the sing-song! Chick chick chick chick chicken, lay a little egg for me, chick chick chick chick chicken........

Phone Scams - don't get caught out!

There seems to be surge of phone scams, an example follows:

Under the guise of brand name, a friendly voice will try to make you believe your computer is faulty, which they will offer to 'fix' remotely. You will be asked to type a string of letters which immediately gives them visible access on your screen. Once they deem your computer 'fixed' they will ask you to confirm your personal information and payment details! If someone 'phones you or promises to make your computer run quicker and better, or whatever the reason, do take pleasure in ending the call quickly!

The real Easter chicks at Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens!

These adorable chicks in the image below were orphaned after a fox devoured their mother last weekend. As you can see, they now have an adopted mother who is being very protective of the young. Nature at it's best and on the doorstep of York! Check out the website for Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens. Fabulous place to visit and the honey produced there is the best I've ever tasted!
