About this ebook

-- A USA TODAY best-seller --

Brewmaster and town sweetheart Dani Dobson is officially declaring war against her hot, maddening new menace of a neighbor--and his shop. How the man manages to provoke her so much is beyond her. But he does, and really, she's just picking up the gauntlet he tosses her way.

The terms of their little throwdown? Her business versus his in the arena of romance.

And the stakes? Very likely, her heart.

Chocolatier and town newcomer Luke Bradford loves his shop's new home. Partly because he couldn't ask for a better fresh start for both his professional and personal life, and partly (okay, mostly) because he gets to lock horns with the feisty beer-brewing beauty next door, and effectively push all her buttons on a fairly regular basis.

To be fair, in his defense--

Just kidding. He has no defense.

As far as the meddling matchmakers in this quirky little town are concerned, this is going to be their most unlikely (and interesting) pairing yet...

"Violet Duke always writes such compelling, delightful characters who manage to pull you in and make you feel a part of their lives." -- #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Barbara Freethy

♥ AUTHOR NOTE ♥

Be forewarned, this slow-burn romcom is definitely sweeter (and longer) than my other books (but there is still some on-page steam, as well as a few curse words--no f-bombs though, per usual). A book about a brewmaster and chocolatier battling over Valentine's Day supremacy? Yep, it was a given I was going to go all-out on the feel-good romance for this one. :) So if you're in the mood for a light and fun love story (with some of my token laugh-and-cry Violet Duke-ness, of course) between two stubbornly romantic characters who work hard for their happily ever after, this is the book for you! xoxo ♥ V

Skip the book. Skip the author. I got 22% in before I just could not stomach anymore. The leading lady is a horrible person. She can write that she's torn between loyalty, guilt over something that the reader doesn't know or just really forgetful. Does not matter. She is setting up a man she likes that has shown her nothing but care and attention. She's using his attraction for her as a weapon. She knows that she already made an official complaint against him for unfair business practices which he doesn't know and tells him it's OK to do them knowing he's going to get tossed from his lease for it. Then she is using sex as a way to manipulate him. That just makes her a dirty wh0re. Anyone who sees that as ok, I don't want to read your books, know you as a person or associate with you. Skip this author.

This is book one in the Cactus Creek series and it features Luke and Dani. It started out as a Valentine’s Day competition but turned into so much more. These two weren’t throwing off sparks. They were throwing off FLAMES! Luke wears his heart on his sleeve. Dani, not so much. She’s got MAJOR issues! After reading the whole book, I understand more about that. It just wasn’t easy watching Luke do all he did and get nothing but resistance back from her. He’s such an awesome guy! When all was said and done, so much more was at play. The story line is fantastic and had great flow! The characters are amazing and I would love to be friends with them in real life. I was so invested with what was happening to each and every character, my emotions were all over the place. I loved it! I would have liked to know more about Quinn and her son because they were such a huge part of Luke’s personal and business life but I guess that will have to wait for book two.

I was given an arc for my honest review. This was a sweet story. Dani is the town sweetheart she owns the brew pub. Luke is new to town and is the owner of the new chocolate shop. They meet and have amazing chemistry, they have different views on the up coming valentines day. Dani believes people like beer more than chocolate and Luke feels the opposite. For good fun they have a beer/chocolate throw down and along the way Dani and Luke fall in love.

About the author

NEW YORK TIMES, USA TODAY, Amazon Top 10, iBooks Top 5, and B&N Top 5 bestselling author Violet Duke is a former English Ed professor who loves being on the other side of the page now writing emotion-rich stories with fun, everyday characters and sweet, sexy match-ups. Since her debut book in 2013, over a million readers have put all four of Violet's laugh & cry series on U.S. bestseller lists, as well as Top 10 charts on Amazon, iBooks, B&N, and Kobo.

When she isn't feeding her book-a-day addiction, Violet enjoys doing far too many things without checking the directions first (often with outrageous power tools she has no business operating), and cooking impossible-to-replicate 'special edition' dishes that laugh in the face of recipes. She lives in Hawai'i with her kids (Violet & Duke) and Mr. Violet Duke (their ringleader), with a PJs-and-rubber-slippers work dress code she takes very seriously.
