10/02/2014 20:10:5613National GSA Network1 - High1 - NewJim Larsenbeancounterlars@aol.comThe National GSA Network's website and their communication routinely mention "homophobia" and "transphobia", but virtually no where do they mention anything about "biphobia".

We need to have discussions with them to ensure they are inclusive in what they are doing.

11/02/2014 23:01:2014Office of Women has problematic definition of bisexualOnline: http://www.womenshealth.gov/publications/our-publications/fact-sheet/lesbian-bisexual-health.html2 - Normal1 - NewBiNet USA / Koby Omanskypresident@binetusa.orgFROM KOBY:
I recently made a blog post about something I found severely biphobic and problematic (located here: http://themilkandhoneyway.tumblr.com/post/73585304823/this-is-the-womenshealth-govs-lesbian-and) was suggested to contact BiNet USA about the issue.

Essentially the official Lesbian and Bisexual Fact Sheet provided by the Office on Women's Healthy, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (located here: http://www.womenshealth.gov/publications/our-publications/fact-sheet/lesbian-bisexual-health.html) has several problematic definitions and assumptions about bisexual women.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/victoria-bond/new-york-times-bisexuality_b_5042158.html

Bisexuality isn't anyone's "useful fiction." Instead it is a complicated reality full of physical and emotional disparities. Also, bisexual people are not in fact "visible." We're ubiquitous. We're heterogenous. We're inclusive. I think many folks read my work and think that I'm saying "only women are bi." What I think is that not taking bisexuality seriously because women more than men identify that way is sexist; this attitude emerges out of a dismissal of female sexuality which undermines mainstream conceptions of bisexuality in general.

08/04/2014 00:59:5924Publcize funding disparities and include denial letters2 - Normal1 - NewFaith Cheltenhamthefayth@gmail.comWhat I hear from group leaders across the nation is every grant they apply for is denied, and the ONE space that bi people have in DC has just been told they need to raise 2k to keep their access. I feel that if we are to make changes we need to go more public with our denials. I think a good start would be a list of all the funds, services providers and orgs that bi people have asked for assistance from and been told no. Then we share that list and publicize the issue: #nothingaboutuswithoutus. We should also take that list to LGBTQ Funders and ask for them to do a symposium on why its essential to be funding bisexual specific programs and support interventions.

Hell if we include the folks we email and dont even receive a reply back, it would be an even longer list! HRC, I'm looking at you!
I'm so thankful for your access, insight and reports back. I promise to treat that trust with respect and not say I heard this from you!
