Bluegrass Greensource is seeking dedicated Tree Ambassadors to engage their communities in tree planting efforts. This role is ideal for residents of targeted neighborhoods who are passionate about improving their environment and helping their community members access free native trees.
Key Responsibilities:
Attend one of four training sessions to learn about the benefits of trees and proper planting and maintenance techniques.
Conduct community outreach by educating neighbors on the importance of trees and promoting the free tree giveaway program.
Distribute informational materials and vouchers redeemable for native trees at local nurseries.
Engage with at least 100 community members, either through door-to-door efforts (in pairs), setting up booths at community locations, or other outreach methods.
Track outreach efforts through weekly check-ins and timesheets with BGGS staff.
Encourage neighbors to plant trees and provide them with the necessary knowledge and resources.
What We Provide:
A $50 stipend for attending the required 2-hour training session.
An hourly wage of $13/hour for outreach efforts.
Official Tree Ambassador gear, including t-shirts and identification badges.
Educational materials on tree benefits, planting, and maintenance.
Vouchers for free native trees, redeemable at local nurseries.
Support from BGGS staff and fellow Tree Ambassadors.
Expectations:
Ambassadors will be responsible for logging their outreach activities and submitting weekly timesheets.
Each ambassador will have a goal of getting 10 neighbors to redeem tree vouchers (though payment is not tied to this goal).
Tree recipients must sign an agreement to follow planting and maintenance guidelines.
Ambassadors should be proactive in finding the best ways to connect with their communities.
