What is the SRRC?
The Student Recruitment and Retention Center (SRRC) is a student-run and student-led center at UC Davis that is located on the first floor of the Student Community Center (SCC). With 7 different community programs each representing a specific cultural diaspora or identity based community, we provide culturally relevant and holistic support to historically marginalized and/or underrepresented students.
What is ASWT?
ASWT is a 2-day youth conference hosted by Campus Visits, a program within the SRRC that aims to provide K-12 and community college students with knowledge and experience in higher education, in collaboration with the UCD Undergraduate Admissions Department. The youth participants of ASWT are current high school seniors who have been recently accepted to UC Davis for Fall 2024. With fun workshops and activities, our goal is to create a welcoming environment for these students so that they may see themselves in higher education, possibly here at UC Davis!
When is ASWT 2024?
ASWT will take place on April 4th, 2024 to April 5th, 2024. While youth will be here for the entire span of the two day conference, mentors will be required to attend certain parts of the conference (listed later in this application), but are welcomed to be a part of the experience outside of the required times as well!
What is this year's theme for ASWT 2024?
The theme for ASWT 2024 is "Light the Path". Inspired by the unfamiliar, yet amazing wonders of the wilderness and outdoors, we chose this theme to center this youth conference on the unknown struggles and beauties of higher education! Our hope is for our youth participants to feel empowered to choose their own unique path after high school whether its here at UC Davis or anywhere in the world!
What will I do as an ASWT 2024 Mentor?
ASWT 2024 Mentors will help facilitate activities and workshops led by the Campus Visits Coordinators. We are looking for current UCD undergraduate students who are passionate about their experiences in higher education and are willing to share their knowledge and experience to empower prospective college students! All expectations and requirements for Mentors are listed later in this application.
All Mentors will receive $20 in Aggie Cash after completing all requirements and participating in ASWT 2024!
