AFSA Community Leadership Award Nomination Forms
Now in its third year, AFSA is again seeking nominations for its annual AFSA Community Leadership Award!
The objective of the award is:
"To recognize, on an annual basis, three current School of Accounting and Finance (SAF) students for their leadership and the betterment of any of the SAF community, the greater University community, and/or external communities at large."
What criteria do nominees have to meet??
"The only criterion is an active focus on the betterment of the SAF and/or in external community life. This award is designed to be flexible to allow students with a variety of different community contributions to be nominated. As such, contributions are not limited to work completed in connection with AFSA, AFSA initiatives, or SAF initiatives."
Eligibility for nominees?
"“Current SAF students” includes students in the Accounting and Financial Management, Biotechnology/Chartered Accountancy, Computing and Financial Management, Math/Chartered Accountancy Program, Diploma in Accounting or Master of Accounting programs who had at least one study term during the most recent school year (September to August). SAF students who served as members of either the Executive or the Board of Directors of AFSA any time during the most recent school year (September to August) are not eligible for this award."
Criteria for Selection?
The below criteria for selection is a general guideline for the selection committee and are by no means the absolute defining factors in selecting the award recipients:
• Normally, at least one of the recipients will be awarded for their community contributions to SAF and/or AFSA
• Normally, one award should go to a SAF student for contributions to a worthwhile endeavour outside of the University.
• Students are also eligible for an award for service to the greater University; however, this need not be done every year with each year decided on the merits of the candidates. Any obligation of service (e.g. work or scholarship related) will be considered, but receive a lesser weight
• Contributions may be looked at in aggregate and spanning multiple years within the candidate’s tenure at the University of Waterloo
• No more than 1 recipient can be awarded primarily for their contributions to AFSA.

The three candidates selected for this award will be recognized as follows:
