JAIPUR. Thousands of Jaipurites observed fast on Wednesday as the awaited the moment of arrival of Lord Jesus. During the day, the Christians families were busy in Christmas decoration as they eagerly waited for the evening prayers.
"The preparations for the day began even a month in advance; on the last day it's just about decorating the Christmas tree and mounting the crib." says Susan Mark.
"For the prayer timings and other rituals the schedule has already been relayed by local church where everyone will gather for prayer at Midnight" she adds.
But its not only Churches and homes that are draped in red, colours of the festival are spread at the major shopping destinations and evening hangouts as the city. Even though impact of recession on tourism has kept many hotels from organising lavish parties this season, some of the city restaurants have been celebrating it big way.
"We have changed the ambience of the restaurant to red colour for the two festive days, special offers have also been announced for the guests and of course presence of Santa Clause is so loved by the children" says Sugan Ganguly, restaurant manager, The Wall Street.
Sure Santa has become immensely popular among the city children and the shopkeepers are all ho-ho over the fact. To attract the young ones, right from the local shops to Supermarket there are Santa Clause every where wishing all the citizens a very merry Christmas and happy New Year.
