    Album del 2005,registrato tra il 26 e il 27 Novembre del 2004 alla House of Blues a Los Angeles.I famigerati X si sono riformati per l'occasione,la celebrazione del 25ennale della pubblicazione di Los Angeles,il disco che li lanciò,il disco prodotto e suonato assieme a Manzarek dei Doors,quel Los Angeles che li pose subito come punta di diamante del movimento punk-new wave del rock americano e losangeliano in particolare,a cavallo delle decadi '70 e '80.Live in Los Angeles diviene oltre che la celebrazione del disco,l'occasione per gli ex X per autocelebrare se stessi,diviene un best dei best in versione live,sono presenti tutti il loro brano più famosi,da We're desperate a Nausea,da White girl a The new world,da The hungry wolf alla famosa versione del brano dei Doors Soul kitchen,da In this house I call home a You're phones off the hook,but you're not,Motel room in my bed,Los Angeles.
    Il suono è fantastico,la qualità delle registrazioni è eccelsa.....gli anni sono passati e la voce della Cervenka e di Doe sembrano cominciare a risentirne,la chitarra di Zoom sa di dejàvù o è la noia(Nausea?) del ripetere sempre continuamente all'infinito le stesse canzoni da oltre 20 anni,con annessi atteggiamenti ribelli.
    Un album che nulla di nuovo dice o aggiunge,di ottima qualità indubbiamente ma che odora di routine e di dollari lontano miglia.....dove sarà finito lo spirito ribelle,accusatorio e sprezzante degli albori punkoidi?

    Le 4 stelle sono per la qualità delle registrazioni,per il missaggio,per la professionalità,per i ricordi che il suo ascolto evoca,per il resto,non più di 3..............non sopporto le reunion,specialmente a distanza di tanti anni,è triste vedere artisti che in comune non hanno più niente,costretti a tingersi i capelli,tornare su un palco a ripetere cose con cui non hanno più niente a che fare,che non sentono più,la giovinezza e il suo spirito non tornano mai indietro,se non nel ricordo.

    I purchased "Live in Los Angeles", "Wild Gift", "Under the Big Black Sun" and "Los Angeles"; This review covers all 4. I first heard X on the airwaves WAAAYYYY back. Unfortunately, I didnt have the $$ to purchase the LPs/hit the Whisky to go check'em out. So now that I do have a few spare shekels, I decided to pick up these reissues, and I havent stopped listening to them for a couple weeks now on my road trips and they are STILL fun! As in other Amazon reviews, there is no question of all 4 as musicians/artists. John and Exene's vocals do make the sound unique - ya either love it or ya hate it! I love it!

    I have loved the band X since the beginning. Have seen them live a few times, and I have tickets to their final tour coming up in a few weeks. This is a great live album/CD and they play most of their "hits" from the early days. The sound quality of this live show is good, too. I crank this one up in my car on my good stereo system and it sounds killer! If you are an X fan, buy with confidence.
