Hello UUCW,
The 8th principle taskforce is eager to hear your thoughts about the work of dismantling racism in our congregation and world at large. We also acknowledge that the work to dismantle racism and other oppressions is not easy and will not be done overnight; it is a journey, and we are here to journey and grow with you.
Our first step is to hear from the community. We would like the congregation to give baseline information in the form of a survey. Afterwards we will schedule caucus style “listening” sessions for UUCW members and friends. We hope to use this feedback to plan next year’s anti-racist education and engagement.

7 Principles of Unitarian Universalism:
1st Principle: The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
2nd Principle: Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
3rd Principle: Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
4th Principle: A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
5th Principle: The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
6th Principle: The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
7th Principle: Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
8th Principle: “We, the member congregations of the Unitarian Universalist Association, covenant to affirm and promote: journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.”
Beloved community is described as when people of diverse racial, ethnic, educational, class, gender, sexual orientation backgrounds/identities come together in an interdependent relationship of love, mutual respect, and care that seeks to realize justice within the community and in the broader world.
