Ender's Game is a movie that is currently in preproduction. It is being produced by Fresco Pictures in conjunction with Warner Brothers; the director is to be Wolfgang Petersen. Orson Scott Card recently said in an interview with IGN that the script is being rewritten by a new team right now. A public release on Feburary 10 2004 by Fresco Pictures confirmed that the writing team for X-Men 2 has been hired to write the script.

Currently there is no scheduled release date. The Fresco Pictures website estimated in November 2002 that the film would be released within four years from that time; this seems highly unlikely due to how much work remains to be done as of 2005. The author-written screenplay was finished and submitted to Warner Brothers by Orson Scott Card in May 2003. David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have been signed to write a new script, working closely with Petersen. The film is expected to be released no earlier than 2007.

The final film's story line will be a fusion between Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow, focusing on the important elements of both. There may also be new elements and/or plots added to the film.
