This started out as an educational exercise just to see if I could do it. That snowballed into what we have today. The goal was to build a high performing lightweight kernel and here it is.

This new 2.x version includes the ability to OC to 1.2GHz. You must use setCPU to enable it. By default the kernel will boot to use the stock frequency range of 100-1000Hz and work just like the prior versions of OverStock. With the use of setCPU you can expand the range to include 1.2GHz. Try running 1.2GHz without the set at boot option atleast a day or two to make sure your phone can handle the overclock.

I've added links to updated non-OC'd kernels. These all have Supercurio's Voodoo sound v7 update.

Includes:
Version 2.4.1
  • More internal stability tweaks
  • When set to 100-1000/Conservative or no SetCPU installed it works just like 1.x versions of OverStock
  • Safe to use SetCPU Screen Off profiles set to 100-400/Conservative
  • Voodoo Sound v7 (Make sure to grab the Voodoo Control App from the market to fully utilize this feature)
  • Voodoo Color
  • Voodoo Lagfix
  • CIFS
  • BLN (Needs neldar's BLN Control app from the market, or grab the pay version for some sweet blinking action and more)
  • FPS cap removed
  • 341MB Memory
  • Based on KA6 T959 Source

Version 1.5.2
  • Added -25 UV across the entire freg range
  • Voodoo Sound v7 (Make sure to grab the Voodoo Control App from the market to fully utilize this feature)
  • Voodoo Color
  • Voodoo Lagfix
  • CIFS
  • BLN (Needs neldar's BLN Control app from the market, or grab the pay version for some sweet blinking action and more)
  • FPS cap removed
  • 341MB Memory
  • Based on KA6 T959 Source

Version 1.4.3
  • Voodoo Sound v7 (Make sure to grab the Voodoo Control App from the market to fully utilize this feature)
  • Voodoo Color
  • Voodoo Lagfix
  • CIFS
  • BLN (Needs neldar's BLN Control app from the market, or grab the pay version for some sweet blinking action and more)
  • FPS cap removed
  • 341MB Memory
  • Based on KA6 T959 Source

Flash through RED RECOVERY only to install. If you're on a ULF kernel, flash back to a stock+Voodoo kernel first.

Use this at your own risk. Always make a backup before flashing. I would also recommend using neldar's SGS Kernel Flasher from the market to backup your current kernel.

I would like to thank the following people for making this possible:

  • morfic for all the help and making time to answer my questions
  • supercurio for all the Voodoo magic he has worked on SGS devices
  • neldar for the great BLN patch and Market app to use it

Download, Flash, and Enjoy!

Version 1.5.2 UV -25mv no OC

Version 1.4.3 no UV no OC (Devs - If you want to include OverStock in your ROM, please pick this one. It's the most stable on the most devices ;))

I think I'm going to put this on a weekly update schedule. Look for updates and fixes to arrive on Monday evenings.

Version 2.2 is now available for download. Hopefully everyone finds this to be a very stable 1.2GHz overclock.

I wanted to also thank birgertime and Whitehawkx for the additional testing help.

For those that requested the 2 tweaks that make your phone super stable and smooth. Here you are just flash zips in CW and you should be good to go. SetCpu up as OP indicated and this should kill the freezing. Enjoy!:)

Before I forget, because I don't want anyone flaming me for credit. I DID NOT CREATE THESE LOL!! Thank Darky and Nikademus from the i9000 Galaxy S thread. You can hit the thanks button if you like. Enjoy!
