Reform group applauds high-caliber Education Commission, urgent call for reform
Panel to address most critical issues for improving New York schools
Albany, NY — NYCAN: The New York Campaign for Achievement Now issued the following statement Monday in response to Gov. Cuomo’s announcement of the NY Education Reform Commission:
“Governor Cuomo has provided our kids with an impressive cadre of the nation’s best thinkers, and he’s tasked that group with a mission we can all support: To make New York schools the greatest,” said NYCAN Executive Director Christina Grant. “We applaud our governor for confronting the tough issues facing our schools. He is approaching student learning and accountability with a much-needed sense of urgency. In the end, we’re confident New York kids will reap the benefits of the commission’s work—and that’s a win for everybody.”
