Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will attend the governors meeting next week with President-elect Barack Obama, her spokesman said this afternoon.

While Bill McAllister, Palin’s spokesman, said he hadn’t spoken to the governor at length about the meeting, he said he expects her to bring up energy issues.

“Obviously she wants to communicate Alaska’s goals in assisting America with energy independence,” McAllister said. “That includes drilling for oil” as well as expediting a natural gas pipeline.

While Republican Sen. John McCain met with Mr. Obama following McCain’s presidential defeat, this will be the first time Palin, who was the Republican vice-presidential nominee, has reconnected with her former opponent.
