The Wewelsburg Covenant Kindle Edition
It's 1944.
As the Allies close in on Nazi Germany on all fronts, dark forces gather at Wewelsburg Castle in Germany to hatch a devious plot to continue the Nazi cause.
Heinrich Himmler, head of the Schutzstaffel (SS), and leader of the Nazi occult order, meets with his twelve occult knights, high-ranking Nazi generals, at Wewelsburg.
Himmler tasks them with undertaking a covenant to escape Germany and set up an arms-manufacturing company, Trevellian Enterprises, as a front for the Fourth Reich, using Nazi gold and war loot. Thousands of Nazis escape to Argentina where they establish a vast underground base and in the decades that follow, the Fourth Reich reaches unparalleled technological, ideological and military might.
It's 2012.
A new superpower has appeasred on the world map, with vast armies of genetically perfected Nazi warriors, a fleet of deathly submarines and nuclear weapons at its command.
The Reich's leader, James Trevellian, a man of unquestioned commitment, not only seems destined to marshal the Reich to military victory, but is also on the cusp of completing Himmler's dream of finding the Holy Grail, believed by Himmler to be an occult object of great power.
As Trevellian travels to Russia to unlock the secrets of the Grail, Ben Hariri, Director of Operations of Israel's secret service and a dogged Nazi hunter, learns of Trevellian's plans and devises a cunning operation to capture the Nazi leader. He sends in two of his finest: irresistible Agent Anna Leonova and ruthless hunter with a troubled past Agent Fox.
A thrilling race unfolds from Moscow to the southern Urals, Dubai, Iran, the Maldives, Bangladesh, Nepal and finally back to Wewelsburg Castle.
But when Anna Leonova infiltrates the Nazi ranks under cover, she gets close to Trevellian, and there are unexpected consequences as the two souls collide.
Trevellian has fallen for his archenemy, and as he stands on the brink of victory, he will learn an earth-shattering family secret that will force him to confront his greatest challenge yet and decide the fate of humanity.
The Wewelsburg Covenant is a fast-paced, daring occult fiction debut that weaves a thrill-a-minute plot around the fascinating history and myth of the Nazi occult.

About the author

I'm 49, have been married for 25 years and have a daughter of 13. I am an engineer with a Master's degree in Structural Engineering and an Honours in Commerce. I live in Pretoria, the capital city of South Africa.
I resigned my position at a company to write my debut novel, The Wewelsburg Covenant, which won The Citizen newspaper book prize in 2009, a prize that aims to profile debut South African authors.
Winning the prize encouraged me to self-publish my novel, but I went back to the drawing board to make sure that the book was in the best possible shape it could be for readers. I spent many late nights and early mornings for months on end researching the fascinating history that forms the backdrop for my novel.
Did Heinrich Himmler, the leader of the SS, really believe that the Holy Grail existed, and did he truly think that if he found this object, that it would help Germany win the war by unlocking some mystical Aryan power?
Enter Otto Rahn, a 'real-life' Indiana Jones who spent years of his life uncovering the clues of the Grail left by the ancient Cathars. Rahn was eventually employed by Himmler to find the grail, and when Rahn died under mysterious circumstances years later, some think that the secrets to the grail did not die with him, but were locked up in Himmler's personal safe at Wewelsburg Castle (looted by Allied soldiers towards the end of the war). What if that story had been continued, secretly hidden from the world?
So I tried to imagine what could have happened, and the history fascinated me so much that I couldn't help tie it, and many other aspects of it, into my story. I took the liberty of weaving what facts may exist about the history of the Nazi occult into a fast-paced occult novel that centres around characters with a great deal of personal conflict.
What if, I asked myself, the Fourth Reich had to rise again? And what if there was one man at the centre of it all, who had the power to decide the fate of the world?
I am a family man with a tremendous thirst for knowledge, intellectually minded, a keen follower and critic of world geopolitical events and a near-fanatical lover of sports. I believe prejudice to be one of humankind's worst traits. My favourite quote is 'Patriotism is a virtue of the wicked', 'Carpe Diem' is my motto in life and the underlying plot for my novel is driven by the question: 'What if love truly conquers all?'
I'd love to hear from you. Email me at wewelsburgcovenant (at) gmail (dot) com.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2013Loved this book. Could not put it down. Had to see how it would end. The writing was good and story had a great ending. Liked the different take on Nazi in the 21st century. Will read another book by John when he writes it.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2013This is an interesting and fairly unique story involving the rise of a new reich. it works out very well despite having a few romance moments.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2016The story was intriguing, with the author offering good character development. It was somewhat linear, but offered enough diversion to keep the story very interesting. I found the ending somewhat improbable, considering the complexity of the international embroilment.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2013Not to bad. Well written. Along the lines of boys from brazil. More romancy than I usually like. Has potential though.

3.0 out of 5 stars it promises more than itdelivers.
The beginning is quite good but the story soon becomes cliche-driven. Pity. it could have been a real riveting read.

Loved when this book arrived. Interesting topic that is riddled with myth and legend. Can't wait to read it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Boring
Sorry but I found this book somewhat boring and bizarre. The role of James Trevallian was confusing and I was unsure what this 'Fourth Reich' actually was until later in the book. The ending made no sense either. A shame as I enjoy books about Nazism and the occult.

Ripping yarn - A little disjointed and the ending seems like the author was becoming bored but a pretty good read.
