Captain Rakehell Kindle Edition
Lady Amanda Gilbertson hadn't seen the toad-eating wretch Lesley Earnshaw since they were both children, but that didn't stop her from spending the Duchess of Braxton's party hiding in a tree to avoid the loathsome man.
But Fate played its hand that evening when she found herself in the potent midnight embrace of the black-masked Captain Rakehell. He was a thief, no doubt, but a romantic dream-come-true compared to the ridiculous fop who had been introduced as Lesley Earnshaw, her betrothed.
Amanda knew her preordained future would change forever, if she could only determine the true identity of the notorious Captain Rakehell.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2013Great female character... a little Zoroish, but it was a cute twist. The love / disgust relationship was funny to watch. Wanted to read more, and stay in their world a little longer.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2013I love Zorro. Who doesn't? And Captain Rakehell, for all that it is a rather stupid name, is a Regency Zorro. He's absolutely wonderful. My only issue with this book is that it wasn't longer and more drawn out. It is a full-length book, but even so far too short for this delightful story and characters. Charles was dreamy, Teddy was hilarious, Andrew was just as he should be. But Lesley stole the show and rightfully so as it was his stage after all. Amanda was equally lovely. This was a fun romp, not a farce, just a rollicking good time of a regency. Expertly written. This is by far one of my favorites. Don't let the title put you off, this is a very good book, it is not a farce, and there is a very amusing romance. I just wish it had been longer. Amanda should have had to stew a little longer about the ineligibility of her masked man as her lover and Lesley most certainly should have had to act the dandified eunuch more than just once. Very highly recommended for all Regency Romance lovers.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2011Captain Rakehell was a fun regency romance. Much did seem unbelievable for the era but it made for some smiles and cheering up while reading. It did get confusing with the various characters, like the thiefs and others introduced as family and friends. They were put into the story so fast that when reading on, it was often needed to go back and remember who they were. Even with these issues, its worth the read for some fun time reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2011My mistake was not reading the free sample before purchasing this book. I trusted the other review. However, I found this book to not be worth nearly 2.99, although that could be because I've been reading $.99 ebooks for the past week or so, and those have been better than this, which I paid three times as much for. I'm all for fun and silly books, but this one was so shallow it wasn't even worth the effort. His whole love thought process was "hey, she's hot!" and her's was "hey, he kissed me! And I liked it!" Nobody had any depth, or grew as a person. Which I admit, is probably a bit of a lofty goal for a romance novel, but I can dream, can't I? If you're looking for good cheap regency romance novels, I'd suggest trying Delle Jacobs, particularly The Mudlark or His Majesty, Prince of Toads. Don't waste your time on this one, as it moves too fast, gives the characters little background motivation for the things they do, and ends quite ridiculously.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2013I like romance without skin.
I don't like minimum requirements on reviews, you put your own words in then. Stupid.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2011Lynn Michaels has managed to capture the essence of the Regency period in a clever little comedy of manners that I venture to say would make Jane Austen smile. Mistaken identities, meddling relatives and a Countess who has fainting down to an art form are just a few of the obstacles that stymie two people determined not to honor their family's wishes to be betrothed and mark Captain Rakehell as a thoroughly enjoyable Regency romp.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2014I liked the idea of it but it just didn't work for me. I read a ton of romances and this one just didn't come together like I wanted. Needed more interaction and developing if the romance. Fell in love too soon and with no good reason.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2011I read Captain Rakehell when it was originally published. Loved it then and still do. I enjoy reading Regencies and Lynn Michaels books are just perfect for a rainy afternoon read.
