A MAN was found hanging at his Hampshire home by one of his children.

Police and paramedics were called to Ruskin Road in Eastleigh after the alarm was raised over the suspected suicide yesterday morning.

They found the 43-year-old father seriously injured and rushed him to hospital, but he died a few hours later.

Neighbours say that a couple with five children live in the semi-detached house.

Four police cars, two ambulances and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance were scrambled to the scene at around 9am and blocked the tree-lined road to traffic for more than an hour.

Police officers kept people away from the house at the centre of the tragedy until the emergency services left the scene at 10.30am.

Shocked families watched as the air ambulance landed close to a children’s play area on a nearby recreation ground in Lawn Road, but in the end the man was taken to Southampton General Hospital by road.

A police spokesman said: “A man was found hanging and was cut down and taken to hospital, but later died.”

The death is being treated as a suspected suicide and the coroner has been informed.
