I'm through licking my
wounds from the election. How about you?
We need your help in waking the Democratic Party up. Vent a little
anger! Click and sign our
petition to the Democratic National Committee and send it to your friends.
Didn't signing the petition help? Don't you feel a little
better already?
I don't know how much good the petition will do. But, I do know
that the more signatures it gets, the more impact it will
have. And, I felt a little bit better just by signing it.
The election proved that Zell Miller was correct about one thing: The
Democrats are fighting with spit-balls and the Republicans are nuking
us.
Amazingly, the airwaves are full of horror stories about what George W.
Bush will do now that he has political capital to spend. Why wasn't
this message getting out BEFORE the election?
We have a lot of work to do. We must hold the Republicans
accountable for their election day fraud and voter disenfranchisement.
And, we must formulate our plans for the war with the Republicans.
Over the next few weeks Radio Left will be discussing where
we go from here. We need your participation, your brain-power, and
your creativity.
We have to meet the Republicans' firepower. Karl Rove is a master at
using propaganda and other sophisticated techniques to implement
his low-down, filthy-dirty tricks. We must learn to do this even better
than Mr. Rove and his henchmen.
But, can we do it without losing our own integrity? I don't know the
answer to that one. But, I am going to find out!
We know that our agenda is based on traditions of freedom, equality,
and mutual respect. But, we're fighting with spit-balls.
The right-wing claims that God is a Republican and tells them what is
moral. Analysts are claiming that no one understands the
underlying moral values that support Democratic, progressive, and
liberal policies.
But, our morality is based on a principle that is even more
universal than the Republican God. In Judeao / Christian
tradition, it's the "Golden Rule" -- Do unto others as you would
have them do unto you.
Under many different names, this Golden Rule applies to all
major religions, to pagans, atheists, and agnostics alike -- In other
words, it transcends all geographic, political, religious, cultural,
and social boundaries.
Yet, the fundamental rightness of our agenda never penetrates the
public consciousness. Should our first task be to educate the
public about the moral basis for our policies? The Republicans
might simply claim that their Republican God trumps our Golden
Rule!
I intend to get some answers over the next few weeks. So,
tune in to the discussion and let us know your thoughts as
well. We need you to be part of the process.
