Thread: Fubared Webcam driver

I was setting my friends old computer up with Kubuntu 8.10 (painless instillation) and my playstation eye toy as a webcam.

when I went to try and use the webcam with Kopete I got the error that "jasper must be installed"

however uppon checking the package manager it turns out that Jasper was installed.

it was at this point I thought that the trick maybe to simply change the webcam driver as this was necessary for my mac when I was using the webcam with that.

To which I used these instructions, link to said instructions (click here), and now the webcam is not showing up at all in the kopete configurations.

How can I undo what I did.

I tried copying things back and modprobing for the old drivers to no avail

with no success
