Motorcyclist injured in accident

BENSALEM - An unidentified man was injured when his motorcycle and a sports utility vehicle collided in Bensalem Sunday night.

The motorcyclist, who police said appeared to be in his mid to late 20s, was traveling northbound on Knights Road north of Street Road at 7:30 p.m. when the SUV pulled out onto the street, police said. The two vehicles collided, leaving the mangled motorcycle lying in the middle of the road near the Bucks Meadows apartments.

Authorities said the motorcyclist suffered head trauma and possibly broken bones. He was transported to an area hospital by the Bensalem Rescue Squad, according to police. No one in the SUV was injured, police said.

Authorities had temporarily closed a portion of Knights Road, which reopened within the hour.

Police are still investigating the accident and further information was not available late Sunday.

I just don't understand why you guys want to ride around without helmets on. If you get into an accident is it worth having brain damage for the rest of your life? My husband rides too and doesn't wear a helemt either and I understand that that is his choice, but is it really worth it? I wear a helmet when I ride with him and God forbid we get into an accident, I would rather have severe road rash or broken bones then be a vegatable for the rest of my life.

I actually don't understand why they uplifted the law, stating that U no longer have to wear a helmet when U drive...what's next NO SEATBELTS!

the law was chnged to if you are 18 you dont have to wear a helmet..because they found that the helmets are so heavy they 9x's out of 10 were snapping peoples necks when in accidents. so they give u a chonce now! seems like your damned if u do and damned if u dont!

Riding w/o a helmet is better for the gene pool. But, this article has nothing to do with helmets. Cars and Truck has no respect for MCs. You have to always ride like some fool will cut you off or pull out in front of you

Your wrong dear. You have to be 21 while being license for 2 years to be able to ride without a helmet. And where are you getting this 9x'x out of 10 BS that they break your neck? Stop spreading your BS on here.
Helmet myths "helmets break necks, block vision and impair hearing" have been consistently disproved.

Drivers just need to be more aware of motorcyclists. My husband has been riding 40 years, and his main complaint is that drivers do not care about who is on the road, they are greedy. There is no respect for motorcyclists. I for one try to keep my eyes open, especially this time of the year for motorcyles.

Wear the right equipment all the time. I use an armor padded mesh jacket in the summer and leather in cooler weather, a full face helmet, gloves with kevlar joint protection, boots, and denim jeans. One accident and you'll wish your wore the right equipment. Cage drivers do not look out for cycle riders; That's the riders job. PA offers free rider safety courses - They are worth it.

It's not that drivers don't care about who is on the road. It's that they don't see motorcyclists. I know you won't like to hear this, but many motorcyclists don't know how to drive in traffic. They stay in blind spots, dart from lane to lane, and pass in the middle of 2 lanes. They can be as greedy or as impatient as car drivers. And they always seem to have a chip on their shoulders.

first of all the person who was on the motorcycle was female, and second of all the jerk off who was driving the suv didnt want to stop for a red light so he just kept on driving and plowed right into her. Also she was wearing a helmet, gloves etc. but since the ***** drive was running a red light, he split her helmet in 1/2. Plus sorry but motorcycles are VERY LOUD!!!!!
