Make Colchester the No1 Music City

Global

Basic Info

Type:
Description:
Here is your chance to put Colchester on the music map.

The town is on the shortlist to be honoured with the title of UK’s Number One Music City.

But we have some stiff competition – and need your help.

In case you haven’t heard, Colchester was home to the original punk in Twink (aka John Charles Alder), 1990s Britpop heroes Blur, Jay Kay, the brains behind Jamiroquai, and Koopa, which became the first unsigned band to break into the UK Top 20.

But we are up against the cities that gave the world The Beatles, Oasis, The Who, the Rolling Stones and Engelbert Humperdinck...

Every vote will count, so here’s how to get involved:

VOTE: Visit tinyurl.com/6d2mot – and add this address to your e-mail and MSN sign-offs, and Facebook or Bebo page.
SPEAK UP: Mail Gazette entertainments reporter neil.jones@nqe.com with your opinions and stories

TELL YOUR FRIENDS: And get them to vote, too!

PLAY: Unsigned bands and solo artists can register online for the chance to represent their home town at a major festival.

Your Gazette will tell you all that’s happening in the Music City campaign. Most Musical City is being run by Arts Council England.
To find out more and say why Colchester should win, visit mostmusicalcity.co.uk.

Voting closes on May 30.

Alas, Mr Jolly from 'Playdays' lived in Colchester. He had a lovely singing voice.
