I do a lot of work at the computer, I work from home and then I run a website in my spare time writing reviews. I hate being at the computer I've worked at all day during the evening so I used to use the laptop for y review writing and when I bought the Transformer I had it in my mind that it just might help out a little with that, especially with the additional keyboard. What I didn't realise is that it would totally replace it and since the purchase the laptop hasn't been on.

The Transformer is powerful, quick and sleek, and coupled with the keyboard I've found it invaluable and all the apps I need for writing are available - there's a supplied office alternative which is highly compatible, and with Evernote and the usual work style apps I'm all go.

The second huge plus for this is that the keyboard has a secondary battery and keeps the tablet going for a lot longer. On business trips with the two combined I've found no problem running it and powering on and off.

Update wise the Transformer seems to be kept updated well, although the latest app store update was on my Samsung Galaxy a month or so before the tablet, but generally new Android updates are there soon after release.

I've felt a little give in the frame around the screen and it can move slightly which is a little disconcerting, but not a problem.

Image is fantastic, sound is good, and I'm just buying a mini-HDMI to HDMI to try playing films on the big screen through it and see how that goes.

My only irritation is that the generally available apps aren't always made available on the marketplace for tablets, and that does annoy me, however that's not a problem of the Transformer and it's only with three or four apps I'm looking for - and I have a fair amount of apps installed.

The keyboard has a really nice touch to it, although you have to watch you don't have your hands slide on the pad while you're start typing at full speed as your cursor will leap off in the middle of the document and your text will appear there. Again, not necessarily a problem it's about getting used to a new keyboard. With me doing so much writing, I love the feel of typing on this keyboard.

So yes, I love it. It's on every day, it has replaced my laptop and takes some of my time away from the computer and the mobile.

Oh, one thing though, I do wish Tablets were more economically priced.

I am not adding a full review of the device as there are many and to be honest - it is an excellent device.

--Minor Negatives - The mic recording on video is rubbish - not good enough to make good films.
--The speaker is a bit quiet - works very well through headphones
--The squeaky corner is a definite cheapp feature - but I've got used to it.
--The cable from Asus (more about this later) has been designed by someone with no sense as it is less than meter long - equally it is USB 3 so you have to buy a USB cable adapter. Charging through a USB is deeply inpractical.

    The positives
    --Good battery life
    --Beautiful, beautiful screen
    --very very good touch responsiveness
--Just generally really nice to use and interact with.
--Keyboard section is very handy - if a little weightier than a laptop.
--Much more flexible than an IPAD (which I had looked at too) has USB, Micro SD, SD slots.
--HDMI out is really handy for watching films (fingers crossed VLC makes it to android soon)

    -----------------------
When I got this device it had a stuck pixel in the bottom corner of the screen. Not a major issue, but it annoyed me so I contacted Amazon. They send a whole new device which arrived the next day!!!
Sadly - this device had a dead pixel in the middle of the screen. I sent this back to Amazon and figured that as I would probably get a third replacement with a crappy pixel somewhere I might as well just keep the original. I told Amazon this and they gave me £60 for the inconvenience!!! Well done Amazon! Needless to say - I don't notice the stuck pixel!

    Now my REAL irritation!!

Just recently, the cable which connects the device to the plug charger failed. Its clearly a loose wire as I can bend it into funny shapes and it does start charging.
As this is all proprietry stuff, the device is useless without the specific cable and charger as its an Asus plug and its all USB3
I contacted Amazon and they said that they couldn't just send the cable, but I'd have to send the whole device and they would send a replacement. I didn't want to do this (although I understand why, as the retailer, they couldn't do anything else) and they kindly gave me a £21 refund to buy a new cable myself.

I contacted Asus about this and - bearing in mind they manufacture the darn thing - they would only RMA the entire unit 'for analysis' even though I told them the tablet was perfectly fine and it was just a loose wire (costing probably a few pence to make)
Equally they couldn't just send me a cable or sell me a new one. They sent me a list of suppliers - of course none even came close to selling the cable. (try going to PCWORLD and asking for a replacement charger!)

So I eventually managed to find one company that did - AsusParts - which is in Sweden and charges 17 Euro's for shipping (cable £13). Having little choice I have ordered two as I thought I may as well given the high shipping cost. Fingers crossed they arrive ok!

So the lesson for me here.

--The device is great - no question.

--Asus warranty and support is USELESS!!!!!!!!UTTERLY USELESS - UNLESS THE THING FAILS AND EVEN THEN I WOULD JUST SEND TO AMAZON

--Amazon could teach Asus how to do good customer support.

I am really annoyed with Asus over this as the unit is not cheap and I have bought other Asus products in the past. Clearly they do not value their customers so I won't be buying from them again.

FOR REFERENCE - I have also included the only link I could find to a company that sells the cable separately. I don't work for them, but they deliver on th new cables - unlike Asus!
    [...]

A further update as of August 6 2012. Just out of warranty and the transformer overheated seriously this morning. Very hot - some very mild melting on the reverse due to the heat and the screen had a big white fuzzy patch about 1 inch across.
I had to put it in a bucket in the garden as it did not wan to cool. Seems to be now, but clearly I can't use or charge it again as its a serious fire risk. I have called Asus and they have promised to call back within 48 hours.... as it is out of warranty I am not hoping for much. Very disappointed as its not even 14 months old. Not particularly sure if I want another though....
