CHILTERN Railways has released footage of an entire bridge being lifted out near Princes Risborough which will speed up journey time.

The YouTube video shows the works which took place on the bridge at Upper Icknield Way over the weekend.

It is part of the Chiltern Mainline Project to increase the line speed.

Chad Collins, General Manager at Chiltern Railways said: “The replacing of this bridge is a major milestone of the work we are doing to reduce journey times and as commuters will be unaware of the extent of the works we have produced a time lapse showing the work they have missed.”

The track and track bed were taken out before the bridge was lifted and a new structure put in. By Monday morning trains were back on track.

It is part of improvements to reduce journey times from Birmingham to London by September.

From Princes Risborough the fastest journey time to London Marylebone will be 32 minutes, reduced by 22 per cent and from High Wycombe it will be 23 minutes- 26 per cent faster.
