Hawaii among highest-paying states for loan officers, construction workers

A recent study of occupational employment and wages in 2007 showed that Hawaii is among the highest paying states for two occupations, according to the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The Occupational Employment Statistics program looked at selected data for the occupational employment and wages of financial managers, loan officers, loan interviewers and clerks, and construction laborers.
Loan officers in Hawaii made approximately $35.53 an hour in 2007. Loan officers made the most in Alaska, at $41.77 an hour, followed by Massachusetts, $38.78; California, $36.58; and Rhode Island, $36.01. There were 910 loan officers in Hawaii in 2007.
Hawaii's construction workers made $21.28 an hour in 2007. Those workers in Alaska and New York made $21.48 and $21.28, respectively. There were 5,620 construction laborers in the state last year.
