Revenue up, profit down at Universal

The music major reported revenue of EUR4.45bn (?3.78bn) for 2010, up 2.0% from EUR4.36bn (?3.70bn) in 2009, while EBITA (earnings before interest, tax and amortisation) fell 18.8% year-on-year, from EUR580m (?493m) in 2009 to EUR471m (?400m).

Vivendi said that favourable currency movement and the growth of digital sales - up 13.8% year-on-year - helped to boost revenues, despite the decline in physical product sales and slightly lower activity in music publishing.
