Subject: Only 2 days left to stop the snowmobiles!     SEND ACTION~a12642u150595

This winter 720 loud and polluting snowmobiles will roar into Yellowstone National Park each day (twice as many as were allowed in last year), unless we act now to stop them. There are only two days left to protect the wildlife, water and quiet in our nation's first National Park - the comment period ends this Thursday, October 7.

Please act now! Click here to let the Park Service know you oppose snowmobiles in Yellowstone. (If you've taken action with SaveOurEnvironment.org before, you can also send your comments by hitting "reply" to this message and then "send.")

Does all this sound familiar? Well it is, we fought this battle last winter, too. Thanks to activist like you, the Park Service has received over half a million comments over the past several winters demanding that Yellowstone be protected from the destruction, noise and pollution of snowmobiles. The Park Service said that it has never before seen such an outpouring of public concern over one issue in its 88-year history!

We need to outdo last year's record to save the park from snowmobiles that wreak havoc on wildlife, park employees, and other Yellowstone visitors as well as polluting the park's water and air. Let's show the Bush administration we won't go away until snowmobiles are banned from the park!

The public comment period ends this Thursday, October 7 - click here now to submit your comments before it's too late! Over the past four years, three studies have proven what we already knew to be true: snowmobiles are bad for Yellowstone. They are loud, dirty, and harmful to Yellowstone's wildlife and air quality. And yet, the Bush administration wants to allow twice as many snowmobiles into the park this winter!

Time is running out. We must act now to protect our oldest national park from noisy, dirty snowmobiles. Please take action now then forward this message on to your friends and family and ask them to do the same before it's too late!

Dear Superintendent Lewis,

Please do not allow snowmobile use to continue this winter in Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks. The current proposal to allow up to 720 snowmobiles per day into Yellowstone National Park is simply unacceptable

Snowmobiles are dirty, noisy and disruptive to wildlife, park employees and other Yellowstone visitors. Three Park Service studies have shown that both Yellowstone and Grand Tetons National Parks would be cleaner, quieter and healthier without snowmobiles. Last year the Park Service determined through monitoring that even the reduced numbers of snowmobiles in the park exceeded noise regulations and diminished park user enjoyment.

Wintertime in Yellowstone should be a quiet and peaceful break from the summertime tourist rush. However, the roar of snowmobile traffic drowns out natural sounds and pollutes the snow, air, and water. Noise from snowmobiles can be heard up to 20 miles away and often disturb animals and push them away from their usual habitats

Our oldest and most beloved National Park deserves better than to be disrupted and diminished by these machines. Please restore the peace and calm of wintertime in Yellowstone by phasing out snowmobiles.

Sincerely,
