Nurturing the democratic debate.  
To mark this Day, proclaimed by UNESCO’s General Conference in November 1999 and now celebrated around the world, UNESCO and the Discovery Channel (along with UNWorks) will broadcast nine films, 1 to 2 minutes each, to more than 100 million viewers around the world about the following endangered languages:
Scottish Gaelic (UK), Saami (Sweden), Haida (Canada), Ainu (Japan), Kadazandusun (Malaysia), Cukapa (Mexico), Toba (Argentina), Sharda and Idu Mishmi (India).
More detailed information about these languages and the film will be available on February 21 at the website http://www.unesco.org. The films will be screened at UNESCO on March 10.
