Senator Murkowski and Gov. Palin: We're not rivals; we're in partnership for Alaska
The Anchorage Daily News ^ | December 11th, 2008 | SEN. LISA MURKOWSKI and GOV. SARAH PALIN

Posted on 12/12/2008 9:51:01 PM PST by Bratch

More than half a century ago, the people of Alaska came together to campaign for statehood and on June 30, 1958, our families rejoiced at the headline "WE'RE IN." Over the next 50 years we never lost sight of the lesson of this victory. When we work hard and in unity there is no limit to what we can accomplish for Alaska.

This lesson is one reason that Alaska enjoys one of the highest rates of volunteerism in the nation. It is the reason that we can dream of world-class construction projects, whether the trans-Alaska oli pipeline system or a gas line, and see those projects come to fruition.

Fifty years ago few other Americans could claim familiarity with Alaska. Over the past three decades, as Alaska became more accessible to the Lower 48, others became fascinated with Alaska. They like what they see. It is not just because of Denali, Glacier Bay or the opportunity to view wildlife from the road. It's the infectious Alaska spirit.

Our passion for Alaska also fuels some of the most exciting political campaigns in the country. Yet when these campaigns end, the commercials drop from the airwaves and the yard signs are put away, we come together once again to work for the betterment of the land we love.

The money part of the article:

With a new administration coming to Washington we appreciate that this is no time for distraction by media-manufactured rivalries. We know that we can achieve far more together than we can alone.

We are grateful for the opportunity that Alaskans offered us when we were elected to the offices we hold. We hold exciting jobs that enable us to achieve great things. Whatever hornets the media may want to stir up, Alaskans can be assured that we are deeply and fully committed to working together for the good of our great state.

We need you in the US Senate Sarah! If only that crook Ted Stevens could have bamboozled his way for another term. The d-Rats would have refused to seat him, and Sarah could have called a special election, and resigned from the Alaska governorship, and blown away the d-Rat opposition.

We need Republican Senators to stop the coming Obama socialist juggernaut....We need Sarah!!

This is where I disagree with you, I don’t want Sarah even to look at the United States Senate. That place is so damn corrupted, look at all those rats up there, doing crooked deed after crooked deed. I don’t want Sarah intertwined with those buffoons and I sure as hell don’t want her anywhere near Barney Frank, Dodd, and especially Pelosi. It would take Sarah years to throw out all the crap over there. She saw massive corruption in Alaska, but NOTHING compared to Washington D.C. A Senator doesn’t equal becoming capable of becoming President, look at Clinton, look at Reagan, Obama was a fluke, he had the media in his back pocket. Sarah doesn’t need the Senate in order to run for President, the Senate is so damn sleazy

I think she’s in a better position as governor. The Senate is full of assholes who think they are America’s princes/princesses in waiting. They’d just relegate her to the cloakroom checking hats and squash her spirit—after all the jerks are frightened most by her spirit.

EXACTLY, plus, Sarah is pure, she has a clean slate, I don’t want her to get corrupted in Washington. At one point in their miserable lives, these senators were probably good human beings, til they got to the Senate, then BAM, power and greed took over their lives.

You’re probably right, but I think a Senate position, at this pivotal point in our nation’s history, would showcase her talents on a national basis. I think we’re going to need every GOP Senator we’ve got, especially with our Senate GOP caucus being full of RINOs.

Totally agree with you. If Gov. Palin decides that 2012 is her year, she will need lots, and lots of money, at least $1 billion to be competative, it will take a lot of us donating as much as we can as often as we can. She’ll also need a vast number of people on the ground to get out the vote, that’s where her large number of supporters can be really effective, but it will be a lot of work. If 2012 doesn’t look good, perhaps 0bama’s popularity is high (I doubt it, but you never can tell this far out) so 2016 may be best year. We’ll have to wait and see.

I am willing to contribute whatever I can. In fact, for the first time in my life, I contributed to this campaign and when I called I told them that I was giving the money to Sarah, NOT to John McCain, because I adore Sarah Palin. She will need money, whichever year she decides to run in(2012 or 2016) she will be the shining star of the GOP and will get the nomination easily. Money will be the issue but I don’t think that any of us Conservatives will have any problem donating to our gal. Whatever it takes to get her into the White House, its where she deserves to be

Obama was a fluke, he had the media in his back pocket.

osamabama never really settled in to being a Senator anyway. His presidential campaign began almost immediately after we was elected to the Senate.

I think SaraCudda would be the American answer to Margaret Thatcher, and would shine her effusive intelligence, personality, and political skills on the corrupt d-Rats. I think that Obama will roll the courageous Conservative Senate Republicans, but if SaraCudda was there, she would galvanize national support around whatever issue she was highlighting......The nation, the entire Western World needs Saracudda fighting the good fight in the place were all the actions going to be the next two years....the US Senate.
JMHO

I’m hoping that 0bama has been so over sold by the media that he will be nothing but a big disappointment to a significant number of those who voted for him. Sort of like a movie that the media hypes, and when you see it, you come away wondering what all the hype was about. I figure with obama there is no place to go but down. I believe Gov. Palin will be a big asset in 2010 if she comes to the lower 48 to campaign on behalf of conservative candidates, and especially if she sets up a PAC to raise money for conservative candidates, there will be practically no stopping her. I, too, donated to a political campaign for the first time this year, I think there was a lot of that, primarily because of her.
