My machine freezes, the screen becomes unreadable, and I have to restart.
It does this often while I am online, and, more recently, also while I am
in other programs (e.g., WORD). After a freeze/restart, the event log
shows ERROR # 7000, Service Control Manager. When clicking on ERROR, I
get the message" The WBHWDOCT service failed to start due to the following
error. The system cannot find the file specified." I use WINDOWS 2000 with
a recently installed SP3 patch, and Internet Explorer 6.0.
MS Knowledge Base for Error 7000 was not much help.
Any help, advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks, Henry

Check the free space on your hard drive. Delete temporary, and unneeded
files. Run Defrag, reboot.

WBHWDOCT = WinBond Hardware Doctor

I doubt this is related to your "freezing" problem.

Delete the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WBHWDOCT

You should not get the error again.
