Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Susan M. Speer made her ruling Wednesday afternoon based on a psychiatrist's evaluation of Emily Leatherman. The 33-year old was arrested earlier this year outside of the actor's home. The judge made his ruling based on the recommendation of a court-appointed psychiatrist who evaluated Leatherman and said she was "delusional" and "paranoid." Leatherman sobbed in court and repeatedly talked over Speer, prompting the judge to issue her several warnings. The judge appointed an attorney to represent Leatherman during her trial, which she says can begin Sept. 9. The Naughty American says: The fact that this woman chose to stalk John Cusack instead of other better-looking, more talented actors should be proof enough she was crazy. *** Funeral director pleads guilty in body parts case PHILADELPHIA -- A funeral director accused of illegally harvesting body parts from corpses pleaded guilty Wednesday to 248 felonies related to the case. Thirty-eight-year-old James McCafferty was charged with letting a group of "cutters" hack up bodies -- without the families' knowledge or permission -- for $1,000 per corpse. Authorities say the frequently diseased parts were then sold to hospitals. McCafferty's charges included conspiracy, theft by deception and theft by unlawful taking. Three men who worked with McCafferty at the Garzone Funeral Home in Philadelphia still face trial next month. The Naughty American says: We hear that McCafferty gave an arm and a leg to get a good lawyer. *** Ex-cop sentenced for pulling over woman for number BLOOMSBURG, Pa. -- A former part-time Pennsylvania police officer has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for pulling over a woman while he was off duty -- just to give her his phone number. Steven Klinger, 32, was charged with official oppression, or acting outside his authority as an officer. Police said he used red and blue lights mounted on the dashboard of his pickup truck to pull over a woman in Berwick in eastern Pennsylvania in April 2007. The woman became suspicious when he began asking her if she was married or had a boyfriend, police said. Klinger was also sentenced Tuesday to three additional days in jail and fined $1,000 for driving drunk in July 2007. Police said he had a blood-alcohol level of .40 percent, five times the legal driving limit. Klinger last worked for the Dallas Police Department in northeastern Pennsylvania. He is currently unemployed. He apologized for his actions, and told the judge he had checked into treatment for alcohol abuse. The Naughty American says: The officer might have had a chance with the babe if he hadn't asked to strip search her on the first date. *** Jury finds self-proclaimed Indian chief guilty WICHITA, Kan. -- The leader of a group that claims to be an American Indian tribe was convicted Wednesday of defrauding immigrants by falsely telling them tribal membership would make them U.S. citizens. Malcolm Webber, who calls himself "Chief Thunderbird," was found guilty on six federal charges arising from the unrecognized tribe's efforts to sell memberships. The jury acquitted him on a conspiracy count. Prosecutors argued that Webber, 70, marketed memberships in the Kaweah Indian Nation by telling immigrants the tribal identification documents could be used to get Social Security cards, U.S. passports, health care benefits and driver's licenses. The Bureau of Indian Affairs ruled in 1984 that the Kaweah group had no historical link to American Indian tribes and that Webber is not an Indian. Even if it were a legitimate tribe, immigrants cannot obtain legal immigration status by joining a tribe. The Naughty American says: Although we feel for immigrants who fell for Webber's scam, the truth is, promising things you can't deliver is a proud American tradition and in that regard he was simply preparing his customers for life in this fine country. *** NYC shops may have to shut doors while AC on NEW YORK -- The New York City Council wants to slam the door on stores that blast their air conditioning to lure foot traffic from sizzling sidewalks. A bill is expected to pass Thursday that would prohibit stores from keeping doors open while running their air conditioners. A first violation gets a warning, the second a $200 fine and the third double that amount. Shops that are smaller than 40,000 square feet are excluded. The bill needs to be signed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who supports it. The council and Bloomberg believe it will help conserve energy in summer months when power demands are at their highest. The Naughty American says: New York politicians would be better off finding a way to use their hot air to power the air conditioners instead of banning them. *** Sources: The Associated Press Did you enjoy this article?
