Starwood to open third Maui resort

Starwood Vacation Ownership announced Wednesday plans to develop a third vacation ownership resort on Maui.
The new property, expected to open in fall 2011, has been designed to achieve certification under the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design rating system.
The beachfront property will be in Kaanapali North Beach and feature 390 villas including a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units.
Starwood Vacation Ownership, a division of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, has three resorts in Hawaii: two on Maui, The Westin Kaanapali Ocean resort Villas and the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas North; and one on Kauai, The Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas.
