Server side problems
I have spent many a long hour trying to get this thing working again but to do so is going to require a lot of work.
In short, the shoutcast stream previously employed by last.fm, while it still exists is now uncontrollable and it is therefore impossible to continue to use the open source Nokia Internet Radio application to perform the actual streaming.
The method now employed by last.fm is to provide a playlist in xsml format. As far as I can see there is currently no S60 application that supports xsml so there appears no option but to bite the bullet and implement this functionality along with a bespoke mp3 streaming client.
This is currently beyond pys60 which I was using for the front end and to implement the client in Symbian C++ presents me with a very steep learning curve. Nokia's new Open C++ framework seems to present a friendlier interface for mp3 streaming but it requires capabilities not available to the self-signed application.
The size of the task has increased by an order of magnitude and I would welcome help from members of this community for continued development of the client.
Any takers?
