Application Feedback

Hi Owen,

Yeah, maybe. I haven't tested it myself with a bluetooth headset so this is all good information. Thanks.

My major concern at the moment is that control of the stream no longer seems to work since last.fm upgraded its API. This is not a problem which is unique to blastfm. Last.fm support within my version of Amarok is also broken. The only way forward seems to be to implement xspf support and mp3 streaming within the application itself.

Cheers,

Richard
Hi,

I've just tested blastfm using a Bluetooth A2DP headset. It works quite well apart from it pauses ever so often.

I wonder if streaming over Bluetooth and Wifi is a bit too much for the N95.

Thanks,

Owen.

Server side problems

Hmm, yeah. Today's the day. I really did say that, didn't I.

I have spent many a long hour trying to get this thing working again but to do so is going to require a lot of work.

In short, the shoutcast stream previously employed by last.fm, while it still exists is now uncontrollable and it is therefore impossible to continue to use the open source Nokia Internet Radio application to perform the actual streaming.

The method now employed by last.fm is to provide a playlist in xsml format. As far as I can see there is currently no S60 application that supports xsml so there appears no option but to bite the bullet and implement this functionality along with a bespoke mp3 streaming client.

This is currently beyond pys60 which I was using for the front end and to implement the client in Symbian C++ presents me with a very steep learning curve. Nokia's new Open C++ framework seems to present a friendlier interface for mp3 streaming but it requires capabilities not available to the self-signed application.

The size of the task has increased by an order of magnitude and I would welcome help from members of this community for continued development of the client.

Any takers?

Server side problems

It appears that there are now some issues server-side. Audioscrobbler protocol 1.1 is no longer supported which is the one used by the application. This is causing the lack of responsiveness reported by some users. I am working implementing protocol 1.2 but the time I have available to devote to this project is limited. I anticipate a new release before the end of the month.
