-Cincinnatti, OH- While Freekbass has gotten several glowing reviews published for his albums, including Bass Player Magazine and Bass Frontiers Magazine, this heavily touring band is known for their live show. The combination of infectious energy, solid musicianship, and that fancy finger-work on the custom-mutron bass, his production is more reminiscent of the big rock shows of another era. The Freekbass lineup in addition to Freekbass on bass and lead vocal, includes guitarist/vocalist - Josh Knarr and drummer Chip Wilson. They are currently on tour with Bootsy Collins...
-Bloomington, IN-
Representing the slower, more experimental side of the Bloomington music scene is Metal in the Microwave. MitM is a four-piece that has been stirring up buzz in the Bloomington area for a few years now. Their sound is a mix of conventional indie rock with the bizarre experimentalism of Capt. Beefheart and the folk sensibilities of Uncle Tupelo. While not as mosh-friendly as The Coke Dares, MitM should definitely keep any music fan’s attention.
-Indianapolis, IN-
Born just hours apart in the same Indianapolis hospital, Ryan Brown and Kris Potts seemed destine to create music together. The two met in the summer of 1988 and quickly became friends. Soon they would discover their musical talents in their respective instruments. Brown took up the guitar and Potts on electric bass. The two jammed together and started creating the foundation of what would eventually become Ladymoon. They recently completed a five song demo and picked keyboardist and singer Nick Jaenicke. Jaenicke has performed all over the country with the Indiana University group Straight No Chaser and his college band Mitchell Street. The four plan on performing at numerous venues and completing a new record by 2008.
-Indianapolis, IN- As an eclectic inspirational rockabilly vibe, it is hard to put Crabtree's Trunk in any sort of category. Their sounds are vast and touch such inspirations as Johhny Cash, Blues Traveler, The Grateful Dead, and The Allman Brothers. All of the members of this band write music, and write themselves in each song they perform. Led by guitarist Cootie Brown, Crabtree's Trunk is a one of a kind, and a must see in this year's festival.

-Seattle, WA- This piano player is a singer-songwriter, yes, but there is nothing 'singer-songwriter' in the quaint coffeehouse open-mike sense of the term anyway, about his sophisticated, world-beat-influenced pop-rock. Aaron's songs are big songs: driven by his vivid lyrics and deft piano work, but spilling over onto vast canvasses of sound, incorporating arena-rock and jazz-rock stylings, electronics, and traditional musics from around the world into his recordings and his live shows.
-Lyons, Colorado- As the natural next step in the evolution of music, Taarka features high-energy performance and innovative compositions, expanding a musical canvas by drawing on the sounds of old and new from world folk, jazz, classical, and rock energy into a synergy of swirling gypsy world dervish for a truly unique and exciting brand of music performed with master musicianship. Both David and Enion are also members of the national touring progressive folk act ThaMuseMeant, and have been touring with this group as well since 2003.
-Bloomington, IN-
The 5-piece funk-rock-reggae collective, Muzaic, hails from Bloomington, IN, home of Indiana University and a rich music scene. The current line-up has been together since April 2004, but the members have been molding their collective sound in different forms for many years, going all the way back to Ed and Mike jamming in the dorms, and Brett and Henry playing together in High School. Muzaic is growing at a very steady pace, most recently playing at the 1st annual F.U.N.K. Festival at Bean Blossom, IN, as well as many shows raising funds for charitable causes. These guys have a good time, all the time, and musically, there is nothing they won't try.

Back in the day, hip-hop used to be fun and free of the limitations placed upon it. This is the mindset of Bloomington's Mental Afro, brought together from across the musical spectrum by a shared desire to make music on no terms other than theirs. The result is a mash-up of styles that would make Sly and the Family Stone proud.
