Hawaii income rose 6% in 2006

Honolulu County was the wealthiest in the state with per capita personal income of $39,653, up 6.2 percent from 2005, according to data released Thursday.
The figures for 2006 show per capita personal income --- which is personal income divided by population --- for Hawaii was $37,023, up 6 percent from 2005. The data was released Thursday by the federal Bureau of Economic Analysis,
Maui was the second-wealthiest county with a per capita personal income of $33,383. Maui's per capita personal income was up 7 percent from 2005.
Kauai had a per capita personal income of $31,377 and ranked third in the state. That figure was up 6.3 percent from 2005.
Hawaii County's per capita personal income of $28,036 was up 4 percent from 2005.
The national average per capita personal income in 2006 was $36,714.
The state had a total personal income of $47.3 million, and ranked 40th in the country, the bureau said.
