Join us at the beautiful Desert
Outdoor Center at Lake Pleasant north of Phoenix on Saturday, October 16th, at
9:00 AM. Meet other Arizona Geocachers and representatives of land management
agencies such as Arizona State Parks, the Bureau of Land Management, the United
States Forest Service, and others. Learn Geocaching tips and techniques,
find out how to be a more environmentally-aware Geocacher, and get info on where
the coolest caches are from those who have done them.
While the focus of this event is on those who are relatively inexperienced
("neocachers"),
all cachers are welcome. At this point we have no idea how many people will show
up, but admission is limited to the first 150 people who sign up.
To sign up, you must post a note log on this page indicating how
many people will be attending in your group. Then be sure to check your
geocaching.com email inbox, as we will be sending further registration
information as we get closer to the date of the event.
We look forward to meeting you on October 16th!

and parking is extremely limited at the meeting area.

able to reach or enter the meeting site.

UPDATE 9 SEPTEMBER 2004
Despite our efforts to get all the correct information the first
time, a number of errors were made. They have been corrected above. A summary of
the changes:
-
The location of the event is the
Desert Outdoor Center at Lake
Pleasant. This is an educational facility separate from the Lake Pleasant
Regional Park.
-
We erred originally in stating that the $5.00 per vehicle fee
was also good for admission to the park. This is not the case.
-
Note that the vehicle entrance will only be open from 8:00 AM
to 8:45 AM on the morning of the event.
-
The ending time for the meeting has been changed to 12:00 Noon
from 11:00 AM, but this is still subject to change. We must vacate the
building by 12:30.
We apologize for any inconvenience these changes may cause.
We currently have about 30 people signed up for the event, so
there is still plenty of room to join us!
UPDATE 15 OCTOBER 2004
We now have some 80 Geocachers signed up for this event. You will be checked in at the gate. At the event site, don't forget to sign the log book and pick up name badges so we can all get to know one another. And don't forget to log this cache online when you return from the event.
Thanks to the State Historic Preservation Office of Arizona State Parks, we will have coffee, juice, etc. available. You may wish to pack some additional snacks, especially if you are bringing younger cachers.
Finally, if you want to play it safe, we have added some driving directions as an encrypted hint. Looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow!
