From the Back Cover
A collection of twenty-three indelible stories—all never before published—from today's top female crime writers and some talented newcomers, selected by the New York Times bestselling author
Anger . . . Jealousy . . . Gluttony . . . Sloth . . . Lust . . . Greed . . . Pride.
The seven deadly sins have been the roots of crime throughout human history. In Two of the Deadliest, Elizabeth George has gathered nearly two dozen tales that probe the dark heart of crime in the name of a pair of particularly wicked transgressions: lust and greed.
A young woman mistaken for someone else falls neatly into what appears to be the perfect business opportunity, only to learn that such luxury comes with a price. A mother is driven to depths she never imagined by her less-than-grateful son. And two lovers intent on profiting from an unexpected inheritance discover that the most valuable item is not at all what they thought it was.
In addition to stars including Laura Lippman, Susan Wiggs, Marcia Muller, Carolyn Hart, Nancy Pickard, and Elizabeth George herself, the collection also features new writers from a broad range of backgrounds—journalists, educators, and criminal experts. Together they explore the dark depths women and men will sink to for passion, wealth, and power.
Thrilling and unpredictable, these stories of murder and mayhem are guaranteed to shock and entertain.

Stephanie Bond was several years into a corporate computer programming career when an instructor in her evening MBA program remarked she had a flair for writing and encouraged her to submit a project to academic journals. Stephanie adds, "But instantly I thought 'I wonder if I could write a romance novel?' "
She spent every spare moment the next couple of years writing and submitting manuscripts before selling her romantic comedy IRRESISTIBLE? to Harlequin Enterprises. To date, she's published over 100 romance and mystery projects with Harlequin, Random House, St. Martin's Press, HarperCollins, and more recently, under her own imprint.

LISA ALBER is the author of the County Clare mystery series, which has been described as atmospheric, complex, and with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing. Lisa is busy writing the third (and fourth!) novels in the series.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2016Love Elizabeth George and I think she picked some excellent stories. Just right for just before bed. Not too long and not too short. I wonder why she started the book off with what I thought were the least interest. The stories got more interesting as I got deeper into it.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2009I am enjoying reading this book. The print is very readable and the stories are thought provoking. I usually don't read short stories, but have found these to be quite good.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2016Some of the stories seem to end abruptly as if the writer is unsure of a climax. This frustrates me. A few stories were interesting and engaging.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2013It is a series of short stories. I was expecting Alfred Hitchcock endings. Stories with a real twist. But it is almost silly with endings that do not even encompass the crime (so-called). I have read "Comeback" by Frederick Forsythe and that is a series of 10 stories and it was so good I could read it again. All the stories had a twist that made then unforgettable. Elizabeth George is one of the best and one of my very favorites with her characters at Scotland Yard and the fact that all 18 books are a series and I have read them all. I wish they would never end. I have not read the newest one., Also have not read the one directed towards the younger generation but the reviews have not been great.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2015Excelent selection and quality of stories. Even better to read than the books by George self.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2012Anything by Elizabeth George is always a pleasure. Here we have short stories by several different writers which makes fine leisurely reading. Easy to put down after one is finished. Then come back when ready. As I said - great for beach reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2018I kept skipping from story to story, trying to find something worth even the very few minutes it would take to read.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2012I think some of the stories made no sense others ok..I thought more thriller types, have ready better, having hard time getting to 4th story...
