DC Contest: Final Photo 9

So many things are out of our control, like death. It can come at any time and the least moment we expect. Accidents happen, and when they happen, sometimes all we leave is a memory of people we love. This challenge will look at a creative snapshot of seconds before death. Don’t worry. This is not real and just a creative challenge to death and accidents.

Entitled the “Final Photo 9" contest, a unique challenge that brought together 46 creatives who submitted 54 Photoshop entries.

This contest wasn't for the faint-hearted; it was all about capturing what might be the final photograph taken by someone just before an ominous event occurred. The brief was clear: no humor, just chilling, photorealistic images that would leave viewers with goosebumps.

What is the contest about?

"Final Photo 9" challenged participants to think outside the box and create a 'last-photo hoax.'

The task was to imagine and depict what the last photograph taken by someone right before a mysterious, eerie, or terrifying event might look like.

The contest emphasized a serious and creepy angle, pushing the artists to their creative limits while maintaining a sense of realism in their work. With a strict no-humor policy and a high bar for quality, the contest was a true test of skill and imagination.

Winning entries

The contest saw a wide range of submissions, but a few stood out for their exceptional creativity and adherence to the contest's theme.

The top prize was awarded to CharlesFBI, whose entry garnered a score of 3.61 with 105 votes. This design, titled "Last photo on earth...", was praised for its chilling realism and imaginative concept of when aliens take over the world. The picture is about a UFO grabbing someone, and what’s left is just the image it took before he or she was taken to another world.

Other notable entries included works by ThreeProngs, avario, and enembee, each bringing their unique dark twist to the contest's theme.

Threeprongs’ work is about someone shot while taking a camera selfie. Avario’s work involves the last picture of someone who got buried in an avalanche of some sort. And the third most like work is by Enembee whose subject is a tourist in Paris who fell while taking a photo. The last photo was of the person falling on the Eiffel Tower.
