Khaled confirms ex-LTAT chairman resigned, not retired

KUALA LUMPUR: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin confirmed that Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor (pic) had resigned as Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) chairman.

Khaled clarified that he had referred to LTAT’s official statement when he initially said Raja Mohamed Affandi retired from the post.

“I was using what was released by LTAT. He resigned, actually. No issue about that,” he said during a press conference after launching the Defence White Paper mid-term review here on Tuesday (Feb 13).

His response came after Raja Mohamed Afandi said he was puzzled when the LTAT issued a statement saying he retired instead of resigning.

"I didn't retire,I resigned. Being fired, retiring and resigning are different.

"So when we resign, there's definitely a distinction," he was quoted as saying to Berita Harian in a letter to Defence secretary-general Datuk Seri Isham Ishak on Saturday (Feb 10).

On Thursday (Feb 8), LTAT had announced the supposed retirement of Raja Mohamed Affandi with immediate effect.

The board commended the former defence forces chief for his role in bolstering the statutory body's corporate governance since his appointment in 2021.
