It's Official: Rob Ryan New Cowboys Defensive Coordinator

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Rob Ryan has agreed to be the Dallas Cowboys' defensive coordinator. ESPNDallas.com also report that the Cowboys will hire Ryan.

Ryan interviewed with coach Jason Garrett for most of Friday and word leaked soon after his visit that both sides were working out the contract details.

No word yet on any details of the deal, and the Cowboys haven't made any official announcements yet either.

The move makes a lot of sense for both sides. The Cowboys get a proven 3-4 defensive coordinator and in the process will also hopefully get a lot more swagger on defense, while Ryan gets to show off his abilities with a superior player talent pool on a much bigger stage than he's had before. Win with the Cowboys and a head coaching position will be waiting for him sooner rather than later.

[Update, 5:05 PM EST] The Associated Press reports Ryan has agreed to the contract.

A person with direct knowledge of the hire says Rob Ryan has agreed to become the Dallas Cowboys’ defensive coordinator. The person spoke to The Associated Press on Sunday on condition of anonymity because the team had not announced the move.
