there is similar saying..”If you love to do, you will find time to do”. These days v always have a reason to postpone the things by saying “no time”. But even Bil gates will have only 24hrs a day…..so its the passion/inclination which makes the difference

In this rapid development/change over years–think mobile phones, emails, casual sex, pubbing, swivel chairs, slick cars and cabs–there simply will be no country for such old men :(

Yes it is Mariyappanapalya park….I know these men who play their games from 11 am till about lunch time….They just enjoy their time there with the innocence of kids….It is rightly said that kids and old people are alike….How i wish i grew old and enjoyed my time that way

I think things just got too overmatched in a short time. Both my grand dad and dad were good at writing letters, lets say, but now I work on emails. A sudden development that my dad took a while to come to grip with. Transition from his paper-office to computerized-office in itself was a storm, considering he had gotten used to papers for 30 years of his life then!
So did the whole text messaging and mobile phone concept, my dad suddenly had a fourth thing in his pocket–it was confined to kerchief, cash and wallet for two generations then.
Its easier to say “my dad can still have casual sex”, but hold on some of our peers themselves are struggling with a rapid change/development–forget dads of a different generation. To talk technology for instance, we all know how unsure we were of blogging, social networking and doing anything online just a few years back. But we gave in for pressure or pleasure–whatever peer, personal, professional.
Perhaps, of the last two or three generation this one (my dad’s) is the most disconnected one with his immediate generation. They seem as if they belong to a different land. And that land do not seem to be anywhere around them. That is why: No country for such Old men, i feel.
More so, when they start losing their buddies who played on the same “Park Bench”, the start to feel like aliens! Disconnected mostly.

These people are jsut happy enuf in whatever they are doing at that moment which is very Sane.
They may be idle, but not during their Youth and with the kind of System/Society/provisions we have for Senior Citizens…They are doing their best without hurting anyone….

Vandalized the bench….wonderful. Probably should have been allowed a beggar to sleep on it…somebody sitting on it and smoking number of beedies and cigarettes, putting the ash and polluting the atmosphere….why envy old people who are enjoying a retired life…happy that they are not sitting before a TV and watching some serial full of arguments…..
