Commercial value: From Volkswagen's mini Darth Vader to Chevrolet Transformers, the best of this Sunday's Super Bowl ads
The commercials that run during the Super Bowl are almost as eagerly-anticipated as the event itself.
And this year Pepsi, Coca Cola and Volkswagen are among the companies to have paid up to $3million per 30-second slot.
The coveted advertising time will enable brands to market their products to over 100million people across the globe, and no expense is spared in making these high-profile commercials.
May the force be with you: Volkswagen's Super Bowl ad features a child dressed as Darth Vader attempting to activate appliances using the power of thought. He is stunned when a car starts as he stands in front of it
This year's offering includes a Volkswagen Passat commercial in which a child, dressed as Darth Vader attempts to activate household appliances using the power of thought.
He is stunned when, finally, the family car engine starts as he stands in front of it - thanks to the help of his father who uses the car remote to switch it on from the kitchen window.
Chevrolet is another car marque to have secured a space. The spoof of a budget ad sees a Camaro turn into a Transformers robot, plugging both the upcoming movie and the vehicle.

Careerbulider.com will also be advertising during the Super Bowl, with an commercial featuring a man struggling with other drivers - who happen to be monkeys - as he parks his car. It bears the tagline: 'Stuck between a bad job and a hard place?'
The most controversial is one for HomeAway holiday rentals, in which a British-accented 'Minister for Detourism' is on a mission to save vacations.
Simulating how a family might behave in a single hotel room, some viewers may be shocked by a scene in which a lifelike baby doll is thrust against a glass window.
Humour: Careerbuilder.com's Super Bowl commercial shows a man struggling with other drivers - who happen to be monkeys - as he parks his car. It bears the tagline: 'Stuck between a bad job and a hard place?'
Creative: The Coca Cola ad shows two warring soldiers creating neutral ground around a bottle of the drink
Doritos, Cars.com, Hyundai and of course extended spots from Coca Cola and Pepsi are also among the brands to be advertising during the sporting event.
Both Coca Cola and Pepsi go for comedy themes, with the former showing two rival factions bonding over a bottle of the fizzy pop, and the latter featuring a couple in which the girlfriend refuses to let her boyfriend get away with eating junk food. He can, of course, drink his favourite Pepsi Max though.
BestBuy will be making their Super Bowl advertising debut this year, with a highly-anticipated ad featuring the unlikely combination of Ozzy Osbourne and Justin Bieber.
The company has not yet released the commercial, however - the high-profile Super Bowl slot will be the first time it airs to the public.
Some brands are even showing two or three different commercials for the same product.
